Hi,
Auto search works well with tvs, dvd players etc., simply press set & power for 3 secs as instructed. The led will flicker as the remote runs through the codes, when it finds the correct one the tv etc. will turn off (note: this can take ~ 5mins!). As the remote doesn't know when the unit e.g. tv turns off you have to be ready and press another button, any button immediately when the tv turns off. If you are too slow, the remote will have gone onto another code by the time you press a button to exit the scan. This can be repeated for different modes, press the mode you want to program before running the auto search e.g. press tv1 then run the autosearch proocedure, when complete one can press eg. vcr2 then run autosearch for the vcr.
I have an 'onwa' tv which is some obscure make that didn't even get a mention in the code list, without autosearch I wouldn't have got the remote to work at all!
phil.

From the instruction booklet:

There is an auto search mode on the Mitsubishi
BD-512 (quote):-

"Power-on the device to be controlled.
1). Press & hold the SET key.
2). Press & hold the POWER key for more than 3
seconds.
Auto search will begin.
Press any key to exit."  end.

It doesn't say what should be selected in the
TV1,TV2 etc. area, so how does it allocate it.....??
And if you do this for more than one device does
it overwrite previous auto-search results or what?

I haven't tried this yet and I've no idea what
will happen, the instruction book

is not very good. I assume the TV or whatever
will go into standby when (if)

the correct code is reached. I guess if you stop
the search in time the code is
stored.

To find out the code number the book says this,
and I quote:

To display the CONTROL CODE for a device-
1). Press & hold the SET key and press the digit
you want to display (1, 2
or 3).
2). Release the SET key.
3). Count the number of times the LED indicator
flashes; this is the digit
number. If the LED does not flash then the digit
number is zero.

If anyone successfully carries out an auto-search
would they please post the idiots guide to what
happens as anything that enlarges on what the
instructions say will be very useful.

Many thanks for your feedback, I'm sure people will find this useful.
Also to 'bobbygalea' for the link to the code list (a previous post), I was thinking of copying the list out of the original booklet but I started to get a headache at the thought..
Anyone got any more to add to our online instruction book?

Does anybody know what the four coloured buttons
three lines up from the bottom of the Mitsubishi
BD-512 are for?

I'd be really grateful for a list of the codes for the BD-512 if you still have it. Do you know what the coloured buttons three lines up from the bottom are for?

I bought one of these remotes today. Setting up a TV and a video was no problem but none of the manual codes for my satellite decoder would work. I had to use the Auto Search to get my Sky Videobox (Grundig) to work. I pressed and held [SET] and the pressed and held [POWER]. It took about 4 minites but then the power on the sattelite box winked off and I pressed any ket. It then worked OK.

I have identified the following keys as needed by the satellite system.

MEMO on BD-512 = Select on satellite
CH*P/C giveds the TV Guide Menu on satellite
CH+ & CH- navigate up and down while in the TV Guide Menu
The 4 coloured buttons work as per the Menu for the TV Guide
TV/VCR button acts as the Back Up button

I suppose this unit is so cheap that a proper instruction booklet is not worth while.

Hi Ron,

I can probably get the instruction book done in Adobe pdf format, if this is suitable, but it will take me a few days.

OK?

A very kind person named Ian sent me the files in a word document, but he said some of the codes might not be correct. Before you go to the trouble of scanning them, I am sending you a copy of what he sent me by email. If you think the pdf file will be better, then I will gratefully accept it and forward it to Daniel Tonks.
