Bought one today, very cheap, works OK (as seen
in NETTO)

1)  If target m/c is VCR/DVD etc, make sure a
tape/disk etc, is loaded.
2)  Look up code for your TV/VCR etc.
3)  Press & hold SET key.
4)  Select TV1 (e.g. if a TV is target m/c); led
comes on, release both keys. You now have 10 secs
to input code.
5)  Input 3-digit code, - led goes out. Done.
Repeat, using TV2 etc for second target m/c.
If code is incorrect, led flashes twice and stays
on. Try inputting correct code this time!

Hope this helps.

kayrags-If there is no code for your Kenwood or any other device you have, or if the codes that are listed don't work, then you cannot operate the device with that remote. Is your remote the Mits BD-512, or ary you talking about another remote, or just remotes in general?

Some remotes allow you to do a code search, which sometimes results in finding a working code. If your remote doesn't allow code search, then that is not an option.

Sometimes it is hard to find a remote for certain components, for various reasons.

You could try the OneForAll 6131 or 8810W in Walmart, or Radio Shack has a 15-2116, each of which has several codes for the Kenwood.

Kayrags - there are a lot of codes in the inst. booklet for the Mitsubishi BD-512

There are some for Kenwood equipment:

Hi-Fi:   527, 531, 532, 533, 534.
CD:     550, 580.
LD/VCD/DVD:     572, 630, 663.

If none of these work then I guess this remote is not the right one for the job, as has already been noted above.

Many thanks for your help - I'll try some of those codes and see if they work.

I was talking about the BD-512 remote and as you say it may not be the right one for the job - also thanks to Ron Aronson for suggesting alternative remotes I'll look into it

Thanks again

Cheers.

There is nothing listed for Yamada.
The nearest is for Yamaha.
Unfortunately the only codes are:
HiFi:  543, 544.
CD:  612.

Under 'others' it does list:
DVD:  674

FAO - cranfield:
Are you able to do the inst. in pdf format? If you do, please expand the pages horizontally as the text used for the code numbers has been condensed so much as to make them almost unreadable. I am sorry but I am pdf creation disabled at the moment.

hi there,i too have bought one of these(photo below) today. it came with a tiny booklet and i managed to get it partially working with my tv & vcr. but i am very limited to the codes i can use with it cause apparently there is no ZERO button!!! when i hold down set/tv1 and enter the 3 digit code, if the digits are not zeros the led will light with each digit to signify that it is understanding it. but if i press the 0/10 button the led does not flash.so i cant use any code in the booklet which has a zero ( i.e. 90%. ). i managed to use find a code without zeros which sort of works for my tv (336). the 0/10 button itself is electrically functional as the vcr thinks it is the record key.

am i doing something wrong? how did you input 0? thanks
if you need a remote code from this booklet just email me.

With regard to entering a zero, the correct button to use IS the 0/10 button, (aka key 10 - in bold).
I have successfully set up codes using it - if the LED does not blink OFF during code setting when pressing this button then the button does not work.

Obviously the button can be tested by selecting channel 0 on TV, to name but one. Make sure the button is pressed firmly.

Yes, it does appear under other brand names and I think Mitsubishi had little to do with the manufacture; probably made in China.

By the way - it is easy when testing the remote to inadvertently leave the selected device for another one, whenupon it suddenly appears not to be working. I'm not sure but I think the yellow key with 3> on it does this.

My son has this remote so I can't always get my hands on it to play!

can anyone here help me interpret the auto search instructions for this remote?
this doesnt make sense to me:

summary of quick search instructions : hold set & tv button. release & press set again& release to start search mode.led will flash. hold down power button & point towards set.

how will remote know that tv turned off? how does user indicate this to remote?

summary of auto search: hold set key & press power for more than 3 seconds.auto search will begin.press any key to exit.

so how would i tell remote to keep the current setting, by pressing any key?has anybody tried this? how long should a full scan take?

it would be simpler if they just wrote in chinese . then i could ask the manager at the local chinese tavern what it meant.

thanks,
Sam

Since I have never seen this remote or the instructions before, these are only my interpretation of the instructions.

Copied from above post:

summary of quick search instructions :
1. hold set & tv button
2. release
3. press set again & release to start search mode
4. led will flash
5. hold down power button & point towards set.

When you perform step 5, I don’t know if you need to point the remote towards the set and hold the power button down and release it when the TV turns off, or if you can just repeatedly press the power button, and then if the TV turns off press any other button. This part is very unclear. Try it both ways if you are unsure which way is better.

summary of auto search:

1. hold set key & press power for more than 3 seconds
2. auto search will begin
3. press any key to exit.

This one is a little harder. I have to assume (not always a good thing) that the remote will continue to send the power command until the TV set turned off (if it was on), and at that time you would press any key to exit, which would remember the code.

You would know if the remote kept the setting by the fact that the TV operates when you press a button. I have no idea how long a full scan would take, but usually the scan is for only those codes already programmed into the remote, which probably aren’t a whole lot so it shouldn’t take too long.

Good luck.
