Hi,

I have just purchased the Mitsubishi BD-512 handset and with the aid of a poor set of instructions managed to get two out of four appliances responding.

The problem I am left with is that Autosearch facility referred to by Phil does not seem to be working. Following the instructions the search looks to begin as the LED light flickers non stop but after around 5 minutes none of the devices switch off ?

At first I though this meant there was no code available for the two appliances not responding. I then realised that as none of the four appliances were responding, not even the two that can be controlled by the handset this was suspicious ?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks

Goggs

After reading this forum i was still a bit confused about how get my remote going with my appliances. Anyway i got it going after an hour or so, so i'd like to share how to go about it! Read on...
1. The preset codes sometimes work, sometimes don't!!! I got my sanyo tv going with the codes, but my Bush vcr code was way out with the code in the table. So i had to do a quick search leading to point 2....
2.
- hold set & tv button
- release
- press set again & release to start search mode
- led will flash
(People (including myself) were confused at this point what to do)
- what i did at this point was to press the power button lots of times whilst it was scanning the codes. As soon as you tv/vcr etc turns off IMMEDIATLEY press the device button to stop the scan. As the remote scans so fast you will more than likely be a few codes out too far on...
-...so press set and hold button one and count the flashes to get the 1st code number (as in the display mode option) and do this with button 2 and 3 to give you a 3 digit code ie 164, 176
- As i said before you will have more than likely gone too far on. Use the manual code input to input this number MINUS 1, then try using the remote.
- keep doing this til it works, this is how i did it. You should only have to do this a few times (i went from 164 to 162 and this worked) as you will have been close when it stopped scanning when you pressed the device button.

Hope this clears it up, i know there's a lot to read but it does work.

Matt :-)

the very important thing is to insert a new pattery (if the battery was low , you will get incorrect unexpected result)

-------------------------
to do manual code input
1. press "set" and hold it
2. press "TV1" (or TV2,VCR,SAT,DVD,...) (the led light will be on)
2. input your code by pressing the three code digits (the led light will turned off)

(if the led light still on, it means that you forget to press the digit button well)
(if the led light flash twice and still on, it means that you insert wrong code, re input the three digits again)
-------------------------
-------------------------
to do a Quick Search (first you have to set the init code to 000 or the last end search point ,by doing manual code input)
1. press and hold "set" and press "TV1"
2. release buttons (the led light will be on)
3. press "set" again (the led light will start flshing)

4. press "power" (every press increase only one brand code, no press = no change in brand code = no effect , so no need to hurry pressing "power" , you can also check ch+- vol +- while in "Quick Search")
if your TV turned off then you got the code , press "TV1" to stop the "Quick Search"
-------------------------
-------------------------
to know this code you just got from "Quick Search"
A1. press and hold "set"
A2. press 1
A3. count the flash light times, it will be the first digit in the code number

B1. press and hold "set"
B2. press 2
B3. count the flash light times, it will be the second digit in the code number

C1. press and hold "set"
C2. press 2
C3. count the flash light times, it will be the third digit in the code number
-------------------------
-------------------------
to do "Auto Search"
1. press "TV1" (if you want to set it)
1. press and hold "set"
2. press "power" for 3 second
(the led light will start flashing, do not press any button)
(if your TV turned off , press any key to exit search)
-------------------------

Hi there,

a relative has one of these Mitsubishi BD-512 remotes and its flawless and at just £2.50 from Netto amazing value. I tried it on my Alba 14-inch telly and it worked, but they never have a regular stock and I have never been able to buy one. I bought an almost identical looking one from the pound shop (don't ask how much it was) but it trurned out to be a cheaper copy and it broke after a month. I've seen them both on Ebay, the netto one for £2.50 is renamed as Waltham rather than Mitsubishi BD-512, but its the same remote. However, I don't buy from Ebay (and I've looked all over the net with no luck) and just wondered if anyone knew of a reputable dealer that sells them regularly.

Thanks for any help.

I can't understand either from reading the instructions, but you may have to try various combinations. Try these procedures first and see if they work for you.

If you are setting up an AV device please make sure that a tape or disk inserted.
Look in the BRAND CODE LIST to find the 3 digit code for device, brand name, and model.
Press and holdthe [SET] key, then press the device key e.g. [TV1][VCR][SAT] etc.
When the LED indicator lights up release both keys.
Input the 3 digit code for the device. The LED indicator will go off if the code number is correct. If the code is incorrect the LED will flash twice and remain in the set-up mode. Input another code from the BRAND CODE LIST.

Just bought one of these from Matalan for a fiver and I'm having the exact same problem. This is what I'm doing and whats happening:

1. Press and hold "Set" - LED stays on while I'm holding button
2. Press "TV1" - LED goes out whilst I'm holding 2 buttons
3. Release both buttons - LED goes out

So basically, I can't even get the remote to do what it says it should do in the manual (the LED should stay on after pressing both buttons). I can't get the scan features, or the display feature to work either.

Think I'm going to take it back.

I've just got one of these things and got my 4 devices set up - but I can't figure out the buttons!

Firstly, I can't get Teletext/Ceefex to work on normal TV. It's a Bush TV, and when I press the 'TXT TV' button it says 'PP' in green in the corner of my TV screen.

Also, is there any way to program a VCR using the remote?

I tried getting Text on freeview. I can get on it, but there doesn't seem to be a select button! Memo doesn't work - it doesn't even light up the LED.

And finally I can't access the Guide function on freeview - and it's not the CH*P/C button. Again, it doesn't even light up the LED. (It's a Bush freeview box, too).

Thanking you in anticipation!

Pieman

Posted above but no one ever looks there.

The instructions and codes for the BD-512 are now in the Files Section (thanks again, Daniel).

Click here to get the manual and codes for your remote, then click on Files, and Then Save.

I am curious to know if you looked at the post previous to yours and clicked on the link.

If you did click on the link, was that not what you wanted?

If you didn't click on the link, why?
