Word from a reliable poster over at DHC says the CKVR repeaters are on pace to be ready for early September.

Also, for the chart. As of July 30, CJNT (OMNI.2) has gone live on RF 40. They will continue to broadcast on RF 51 for the next 3 weeks with a scroll on the screen letting people know about the change.

Lastly just an update on the CKVR transmitter in Hamilton, which has officially been designated as CHCJ-DT.

Bell has filed with the CRTC for changes to what was previously proposed. It can be viewed at [Link: tinyurl.com] and it is application # 2012-0704-3. Industry Canada has signed off on a temporary basis on the following. They are going to be at 107.7m on a modified Nexacor Cell towers [alternate Hamilton tower location near Rymal] vs 248m on the CHCH tower.
Channel Zero and Bell couldn't come to terms. It will be 26kW instead of 25kW. But the difference in height is probably going to cause signal problems for many in Toronto.

There is also updated contour maps now available as part of the application, which you can hopefully add as well. The signal doesn't extend very well east of Yonge St.

FYI, the digital repeater on UHF 42 in Fonthill has been assigned the call letters CKVP-DT

Thanks for the info, I just had to update my MDP-130's channel lists.
Plus for me in Welland, at 82% on the indicator, it is what CFTO-DT should be!! It'll be good for following the CBC news after for two full hours of news.

EDIT: My bad!
I was expecting the national news first, not just Barrie news, oh well,
will still ask zap2it to add it to my custom TV guide anyhow.

Does anyone know why 49-2 is just a black screen? Signal is fine, 49-1 is there but not 49-2.

Word is Sinclair has dropped 'The Cool TV' from all its stations. The reference on Wiki links to this discussion: [Link: radiodiscussions.com]

Time for Daniel to update the chart.

As already mention it appears WNYO owner Sinclair has drop CoolTV, but it is unconfirmed, by Sinclair or CoolTV, but here is another link.

Yeah, I found that thread and it pretty much boils down to...money. The bottom line is the station wasn't generating enough money for Sinclair, so they yanked it. It is still on in a few markets though, that aren't Sinclair owned stations. I wonder of the Country channel on WUTV will be next. My folks will be pissed!

In other news... CKVR's Fonthill repeater CKVP is on air in Niagara this morning on Channel 42-2 why 42-2 and not 42-1? Who knows, I get a 90% strength on my big rotary antenna pointing SSW from St. Catharines.

Too bad "Cool TV" is gone, at times was interesting music. Running a sub channel is not all that expensive, its the transmission feed to get the signal to the headend that costs $.

Funny thou, I watch mostly the secondary channels for entertainment, especially WGR 2-2.

Did a rescan today, and I am now picking up CTV2 on channel 35.1. I also noticed no more Cool TV on either 49.2 or 31.2. What exactly is supposed to be on 42? I entered 42.1 and got four subchannels of religious programming from Rochester. Along the way, I also tuned in 61.1, a religious channel from Cleveland. CJMT is now on 40.1 instead of 69.1

If you're getting CTV TWO on 35.1 (CHCJ Hamilton) it's the same on 42.2 which is CKVP from Fonthill

Program guide data appeared on Thurs. Sept. 13 (same date as the CRTC approval of the transmitter site). I pretty much need to point my antenna right at it to get a stable signal in Etobicoke). The transmitter is on a microwave tower above a Bell building on Upper Wentworth and Fennell (ie. not very high off the ground like the rest of the Toronto /Hamilton stations).

I can get 35 on some nights (at about 10% signal), but not all. Most days it is out. I live in Richmond Hill near 16th and Yonge. Quite disappointing since I have a DB8, 40 feet up, with a rotor, and a pre-amp. Can't get VHF10 either (possibly multipath from Rochester but who knows). I guess they don't want us watching. Oh well, CW23 seems to play most of their programming anyway, and comes in at 100% 24hrs much like all the other Buffalo stations I get.

It is amazing the control Rogers and Bell have on the industry up here. Don't buy cable, and don't get any channels. Lucky for us that the USA doesn't have the same view.
