What's a good excessive signal filter for selected frequencies that doesn't kill weaker channels? Few TO channels are in excess on one antenna which causes visible glitching.

DJG.. I stumped too, unless you are really blocked by a new condo or other factor (have you talked to your neighbours about the issue?).

Since it is the only VHF channel off the CN Tower comparing to the UHF not reliable.

A quarter wave antenna at 180 MHz is 15 inches long but a wire you already tried. If you do not mind a few dollars, a VHF add on antenna to bowtie is available and you must have a UHF/VHF pre-amp

Hope posting this have not broken any rules :-(

Have tried LG, Samsung (TV's at different locations with build in tuner), two PC tuners. Conclusion: witchcraft ;)
Thank you.

Ha! yeah, witchcraft!

I'll go with the suggestion that the old legacy tuners are not up to snuff.
The MyHD MDP-130s were made circa 2005-2006 with the first generation ATSC1.0 chips, where even my slightly old HDHomerun tuners still have 3rd generation chips. I've become a SiliconDust fanboy because of the HDHRs network connectivity, but no facility to use a remote control beyond a wireless keyboard and trackball. It would mean losing the freeze-frame, pause and replay of live TV that I get from the 130s once ATSC 3.0 gets here. SiliconDust has already made and released compatible tuners, listed on their website the markets where ATSC 3.0 is being televised. I know Hauppauge has a number of models that come with remotes, but I've seen no indication of available 3.0 hardware. Plus, the Cliff Watson EPG Project software is only compatible with the HDHRs, the DIVCO™ Fusion series of tuners, and the 130s, the latter two long out of production. Though SiliconDust has their own way of doing things as well.

Bruce, most tuners I've used are new(ish) ;) Have tried another, recently purchased, Chinese TV brand since last post and CFTO didn't show up while auto scanning, hence most smart TV's don't even have manual modes =)~
At this point feels like I'm going nuts, haha. One of those cases where getting a result is a matter of high level curiosity.

Well , CTV only has two shows I'm interested in. Everything else I get out of Buffalo, and the Pay-TV stuff I get via file sharing sites.
W5 has its own YouTube channel, so that just leaves Question Period from the Fonthill repeater. One way is, if I wake up before noon on Sunday I can use one of my media players [KMP or PotPlayer] and view the file as it's being recorded by the HDHR and the Cliff Watson s/w. That way I can pause, freeze-frame and replay that way, or if I sleep in, the file is there on the HDD for when I'm ready. My only regret is not paying more for the 4-tuner HDHomerun, I have two 2-tuner Connect Duo[s] instead.

Hi
I am having trouble receiving CTV2 (10-1) out of Barrie. I am located in Mississauga North just south of the 401 at Erin Mills PKWY.

I Pick up most of the channels on the list Including CHCH (11-1) and YES TV (36-1) out of Hamilton which is why I thought I should be able to pick up the CTV2 repeater (35-1) out of Hamilton.

My question is: for those of you receiving CTV2 are you getting it from the station in Barrie or the repeater in Hamilton? I have a rotational dish antenna mounted at about 20' high outside. I am just wondering whch direction I should be pointing the antenna.

Quin 35.1 CTV2 Hamilton has been operating using there back up transmitter for several months so the signal is weak but is coming in at Winston and Derry. The Barrie 10 is harder to get and requires an big outdoor VHF Antenna .35.1 is using a cell tower in Hamilton so its range is less than CHCH/CTS on tall tv tower.CTV dont seem interested in fixing their higher power transmitter.

CTV2 RF ch 29 that moved months ago, exactly where is the transmitter now?
I use to get it with little problem, now it's completely gone.

The ironic thing is, that useless, low power RF29 south of Buffalo has been off the air for some time now (no loss).
Years from now, you might as well kiss recording OTA TV goodbye thanks to ATSC 3

CTV2 has been coming in for about a week now. It is not a very strong signal but it is consistent and watchable. I have changed nothing (aside from the scan that picked it up) so I'm not sure if it is an atmospheric change or a physical equipment change on their end. Either way, I am happy. Thanks and enjoy.

Anyone been having trouble getting CBC? Of the Canadian channels, it was my second most reliable. Usually get 5/9/19/25 no problems…sometimes 51 City if conditions were right. Noticed past week I don’t get 5, screen says weak/no signal…but was getting 51. Played with antenna (antenna is locate outside bedroom, so I can see if moving it helps with reception with bedroom tv on…my antenna points toward Toronto).

One good thing did come out…found out I get 42 CTV2 when pointed at Fonthill. Can flick between Baltimore/Cincy and KC/Titans game on CTV/CTV2 today.

Something happened while I was sick this June-May?

Do I have to re-scan?
HDHomerun is easy, but the legacy cards not so, a real P.I.T.A .

No trouble getting CBC here in Mississauga. CTV2 is an excellent channel to get if you are a football fan as they pick up most TSN games which include ESPN's Monday night football and Prime's Thursday night football.

Does anyone else have trouble pulling in sub-channels on 49-1 at times?
I find I will actually get 49-1 WNYO-MY but the subs will be spotty. Is this because of the sub's signal degradation to the transmitter at WNYO or the signal degradation from WNYO's transmitter to my receiver?

There is probably not much about it I can do either way but I am curious why it happens. It seems to me if I get the main channel solid the subs should be too.

Anyway thanks for any and all responses in advance.

Ch 49 and its subchannels were to be broadcasted on RF 16 from Grand Island.
However an agreement with local broadcasters decided to use RF16 for ATSC-3 testing. To allow 49 to broadcast, they moved their channels to other broadcasters.
49-1 is a subchannel on 29(RF32) Grand Island
49-2 a subchannel on 7(RF34) Colden
49-3 a subchannel on 2(RF33) South Wales
49-4 a subchannel on 4(RF36) Colden

Getting all of 49's subchannels depends on how well you receive the other Buffalo broadcasters.

That makes sense as I only pick up 2,4 and 7 under the best weather conditions and 29 comes in almost as well as some of my steadier rock-solid CN tower channels. Sometimes better than 9. I wish BCE would get off their wallet and boost power a little.

Thanks so much for the response as it explains exactly why this is happening.
