Have you ever purchased a dvd movie that
you already had?

Yes, as a gift for someone else.

I have over 160 titles with yesterday's purchase. Mostly movies, but have some concerts, TV series, IMAX, DVD-Audio, and one calibration DVD.
I also live for Tuesday's, but thanks to Spiderman, I recently was able to live for a Friday.

I have two 300+1 changers about 3/4 filled on each.
So I'd say that I have about 450 or more. But when you count all the movies that now come with a "bonus" disc, how would you count those? I myself, don't add those to the count.

4 DVD's
1 Film
2 TV Series
and One Freebee from a computer magazine with Only Fools and Horses on it...

Am getting ET for Chrismas so in 2 1/2 days time that will be 5 :)

5 Pre-recorded VHS-PAL (Letterbox)
1 Pre-recorded VHS-NTSC (black and white on my colour tele - at least it's schindlers list so i don't lose much colour 4:3 but with borders at top and bottom)

All videos have been given to me, all DVD's i've brought.

Video Player - 10 years on xmas day...
DVD Player - 6 months on Saturday comming...

DVD Stroage - Shoe boxes
Pre-recorded VHS - The same
Other VHS - them plastic draw thingies you can get, and my window sill.

2 weeks time = student loan + pay + christmas bonus + xmas gift vouchers + january sales = my dvd collevction doubling, and possibly a DVD player being added to my home theater setup (TV/VCR/Hi-Fi/DAB/Freeview/PC with TV Out that struggles with full screen video)

312 and counting.

I built a shelf that goes all around my home theatre room for storage. My goal is to make it around the whole room one day and fill the shelves completely (other than the area behind my TV). I only have enough space for another 3 or 4 dvds on the left wall.

Oh well....only 3 more walls to go.

We (our family) have a little over 200 DVDs.

As for storage, I've built my own wall mounted
shelves. I have 8 shelves in an area 48 in. wide
and 64 in. high. That gives me room for approximately
730 DVDs depending on how you stack them. I use
a combination of verical & horizontal storage.

With that capacity, these shelves will serve us
a long time since we are buying about 100 DVDs/yr.

Ummmm that would be about 5 years then, at the rate you say. Room addition time....:)

I try to only buy movies that I think are all time classics (at least in my opinion) ... really ... i do!

still - with the cost of two theater tickets being more than a new DVD, and my living room being more comfortable that a theater ...

I guess all adicts need a reason

I am now up to 111. As for the excuses, I had a good one. I figured that my fiance smokes about a pack of cigarettes a day, so at $5 a day X 30 days, that equals $150 a month I could spend on "My habit". It worked for awhile, but she just quit smoking...I need to think of a new excuse quick!

Does she still eat food? That could be a viable one.

Of course, that means you have to use your lunch money on DVDs!

I'm currently at ~220. I rarely buy them used, as I got burned on ebay three times, and they have no protection for fraud cases that are valued at less than $25. I don't understand why anyone would sell their DVDs. The resale value is so low. I'm a sucker for features. I actually have three different versions of Dune (two actually different productions, and one standard/one director's cut of the SciFi Channel version), and two different versions of Stargate, and when the "ultimate edition" comes out, I will have a third. I have two different versions of Terminator 2, and Total Recall... probably a few others too. Actually, I have given a few of my dupes away (the lesser version, of course). I *just* ordered a cabinet to hold my DVDs in. My wife is anal about what we put in the living room, so we're paying like $350 for an oak cabinet. I'd be fine with a $99 particle board one, but she's the boss. :-) Oh, and that 220 is probably low, because DVD profiler catalogs a whole box set as one. I have all three Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons that are currently avaiable (that's 15 discs right there), both currently avaiable seasons of Stargate SG1 (another 10 discs), The Rambo trilogy, the Die Hard Ultimate Edition trilogy, Back to the Future trilogy... All of these are catalogged as one.
