The DVD freezes when I play it on my PC in several places. One of them is the scene where Neo emerges from his cocoon, which I guess is a fairly common problem with the Xing DVD player. But it also freezes in a few other spots, like right before Neo and Morpheus fight, and the scene where the electric shrimp crawls into Neo's stomach. Is anyone else having these problems?

Though I haven't watched with the White Rabbit option on yet, those sound like likely places for them to appear. Try turning that on and then watching (I've heard that may correct related problems).

OK, maybe I missed something...what is the "White Rabbit" option? I have the disc on rental from NetFlix, so I don't have the box, and I can't find anything on the disc about it...

Chester,

whith the white rabbit option enabled you can jump to the making of.... scene related. You find it in the special features section (I think it page 2 of 2). Whith this function activated a white rabbit appears at the bottom every time theres footage on the special F/X in this scene.

BTW: No glitches or other problems either on my Pioneer DV-505.

Here's my two cents:

Running CreativeLabs 6x player with the DXR3 board, and I also noticed some brief hangs, with a corresponding audio dropout, but no dead stops. It's distracting, but not devastating.

Has anyone with the hang / skip / freeze problems returned their disk, or resolved their issues successfully?

One thing I just found out... The Matrix DVD widescreen version is not in anamorphic format 16:9, just discovered this after getting a new Mitsu 55" 16:9 HDTV.. I am guessing it is in (?)2.35:1 format...

I have a Yamaha C900 and got the matrix. The movie pixalates and loses sound a various parts through the dvd. It always happens in the same places. One is at the very begining when the girl fights the cops and when neo and morphious fight. I exchanged my dvd and still no problems. I have two freinds that own the sony 700dvd player and they had no problems playing my dvd. I also hooked up my old panasonic 110 and it works flawlessly on that one. I took my dvd player back to the store hoping that there was just a deffect in the player and I could exchange it but the other three yamaha c900 that they had in the store all did the same thing.

This is a firmware bug on your player in conjunction with the "White Rabbit" feature. I believe turning that on and THEN playing may help it... or it may not.

It's TRUE! My near-wonderful Toshiba 3109 "IS" having trouble with the "White Rabbit" feature on the Matrix DVD,(besides periodic "blue flashes" in between the production company logos and the beginning of the movie). I also have a Sony 530, and that player catches the "Rabbit" and plays all the scenes perfectly.(no sync problem yet...) Anyway, I called Toshiba today, and they said that they have had a "couple" calls about "Matrix", and that they have tested it on SD3109 players there and had no problem,(they need to test it on MINE...)Oh well, looks like 3109 buyers with this problem will just have to wait for a "Fix" from Toshiba...or return it for something "better"...

Being a great special effects fan and having had no luck in getting replacements for defective products on DVD I have purchased The Matrix twice. Both discs completley lock up on my Samsung DVD-709 in several areas with many glitches throughout the movie. Discs purchased via internet and local store.

As mentioned in my message near the top of the screen, the Samsung has severe problems with The Matrix. A new disc won't fix that.

My three sons (15,18,20) absolutely idolize the Matrix. It's been watched at least a dozen times, that I know of, on our Sony 7700 without any problems. The white rabbit has always made his option rounds and it sound fantastic with the boston 970's. I'm glad we haven't broken any windows and my wife is still sane.
