I looked, but didn't find anyone else asking this question, so does anyone else have the Matrix on DVD? Great movie with cool extras, but mine has 6 or 8 times when there is noise in the picture or it jumps or just gets stuck. Did I get a bad copy, or is everyone's copy like this?

I watched the film yesterday on my Sony S500D without any problems. However it has been noted that there are problems, ranging from minor to severe, with certain players.

Namely:

Emerson DVD2000
All GE players
Panasonic A110, A120, A310
Pioneer DV-500, DV-414, DV-90
Sony S7000 (early versions)
Samsung 709, 809, 739
Toshiba 3109
Yamaha C900
Zenith DVD2200

...and numerous PC-based systems.

Hi Barry,
I have watched "The Matrix" 3 times now and have not experienced any audio/video problems. I am playing it on my Sony 530 DVD, through my Sony 535 DTS receiver without a glitch, just the really awesome sound and special effects!!! (This is what DVD and 5.1 is all about!)
I think that you might have a bad disc, or even worse, a malfunctioning DVD player. Does the problem stop if you hit the "enter" or "play" button on your remote? If so, its your player (according to Sony and their 'lip sinc' fix). If it doesn't stop then you have a bad disc. But I'm no expert. Just my thought.

Hello,
I've watched Matrix on my (yet another Sony) S3000 with no problems. I know for a fact that the "White Rabbit" function doesn't work correctly on first generation Pioneer players, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were other problems on those Pioneer players.

However, it quite possible that you have a copy that was replicated from a bad stamper or something like that. You should be able to exchange it for another one. This happens now and then!

I read a post over at www.hometheaterforum.com that made reference to a "bad first batch" of DVD's. Apparently a lot of people who prerdered it got one of these "bad" DVD's. Also it seems the problems range from slight pixelation to audio dropout to complete "crashes".

I preordered it and have had no problems with my SD-3109 (knock wood). For the most part it seems that the problems are minor and random, as many of the people said they could not reproduce the problem.

BTW - GREAT DVD!!!!

Tom

I could only have time to play Matrix once on WinDVD (software based DVD Player). It jumps back a lot. I'll try to use it under DXR2 CL Player as see if the same problem occurs.

My Matrix DVD runs flawlessly on my Pioneer 414 player. Then again I have yet to have any problems with any DVD (except a rented one that was grossly dirty) on this player.

I suggest checking your disc for fingerprints and/or other dirt. The pickup is so fine on DVD that very little obstruction (dirt) can royally mess up your experience.

I went to the local record shop (Tower Records -- San Diego, CA) looking for a copy of Matrix last evening. I noticed there were none (there had been a bunch of them about three days ago for $13). When I asked, the girl said that they had all been sent back because of a "Glitch". Apperently so many had been returned that they sent the whole batch back. She said that they expect some new ones in a week or so.

Just to add on,

I preordered from DVDExpress and got mine on 9/21. I have watched it twice on my DVP-S7000 and have had no issues whatsoever. I have explored all of the special features and watched a little of the white rabbit version which also functioned properly. Gread movie to have on DVD.

I ordered The Matrix from Amazon.com and went to play it on my Samsung DVD-709 and it wouldn't play at all. All the player said was "loading". I emailed Amazon who said that it was a firmware bug. I am about to write back to them with some of the above comments. Thanks guys!

Albert... You're dead. You don't get an opinion any more. Lay down and keep quiet.

If you insist on thinking, perhaps you could use your great mind on figuring out anti-gravity. I'm sure the world could use those thoughts.

Here's a Matrix help website for those having problems with the DVD:

and

I bought mine from 800.com, but haven't watched it yet. I will post how it plays on the Panasonic A120 when I get around to watching it.

I've watched it twice on my PC-DVD Encore dxr2 and haven't had any problem (except perhaps with my neighbours). Mr Einstein, you have the right not to like a movie but if you don't care to explain why then don't post at all; with such a pseudonym you should be able to write a constructive critic.

Regarding my previous message (look two messages up)...

I finally got around to watching The Matrix last night. I am very happy to say that I did not experience any glitches with the DVD on my Panasonic A120.
