I recently had my HT integrator program my Marantz RC9001. When the hard button volume buttons on the remote are pressed the remote is inconsistant in sending commands. My programmer did not know a way to fix the problem and said he would have to do some research as to why this is happening.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix?

I bought this remote without doing my usual due diligence. Is there any other information that can be retrieved back to the remote besides the volume db from the receiver? I have all the basic turn this on, turn this off functions but I can't help feeling like I'm not getting $2000.00 worth of functionality.

The problem you describe may be indicative can be caused by a number of things. Bad IR code learns, etc. I presume since you mention 2-way feedback, the receiver is controlled by RS-232. So, now what type of receiver? Did the integrator use one-way RS232 actions, or IR to control the volume?

Why are you asking on his behalf? Is he not familiar with this site? Did the integrator provide you the configuration file used for your remote? Note that you may also require a "My Database" file along with your XCF file if we need to look at what was done.

Thanks Lyndel,

I've updated my sig w/ equipment specs. My receiver is the Marantz SR8002. I think he used RS-232 to control the volume. The receiver would have the little IR diode pasted on it if he used IR correct?
I'm pretty sure the questions you asked are remote 101. Unfortunately I don't know the definite answers.

My programmer is still planning to try to fix the problem. I not sure if he knows about this site or not. I'd hope he does and is reading this.

I realize programing these remotes is far from trivial but I am surprised that a primary major function like volume control is difficult to program and make work. Initially he told me that the volume control only works for the radio. I said that can't be correct. It's frustrating and the reason I took the initiative to make this post. We will see what he comes up with.

I wanted to make sure this was not a know problem with an easy fix.

Thanks again Lyndel. I want to look more at your Escient information. The link did not work when I clicked on it.

If your config was developed in PEPv2, and the volume commands are 1-way RS232 actions, you will need to edit the "component's" RS-232 codes in My Database and tweak the settings there. I believe for Denon, I have 100ms or 150ms repeat intervals.

If in PEPv1, then the 232 codes are not in a database and are likely on some hidden page somewhere. You will need to edit each 232 code directly in the button versus in My Database as PEPv1 did not support 232 codes in the database.

I tried the link in my siggy and it worked just fine. Here's the link I fetched using IE 6.0. Firefox should be able to get the word doc as well. I must admit that MediaFire does MANY popups but it's free. :)

FYI, you will need firmware 5.0.7 or higher on your RC9001 to run EscientPronto. I recommend Escient version 4.2.5.6 on your SE-D1 for stability as well.

Thanks, that's great info Lyndel.

Is it possible for me to view info from the Escient SE-D1 on my remote? The current song that is playing etc.

I'm 95% sure my programmer used the Wizz.it software.

My remote settings screen shows the following under "Version":
Type Number: RC9001 v1.0
Application: 2.0.11
IR Firmware: 2.1.25.1
Bootloader: 1.2.12

Is the "IR firmware" the same firmware you are saying needs to be 5.0.7? If not how to I see what firmware I currently am using?

Link works great now.

Thanks,
Rastus

No, the firwmare you need (5.0.7) can be downloaded from Marantz site. I believe the 2.0.11 number you see is the version we are after but cannot be 100% sure.

If you email me at my yahoo account, I can send an XCF with screen shots or your can visit www.only1remote.com and see the TSU9600 escient demo.
This demo has the O1R skin in place. The actual config comes with 9 or 10 different skins that you can pick. See the documentation for more info as well.

My user interface is as true as possible to the onscreen List View of the Escient TV interface. Full support for Music, Movies, and iRadio.

Does not yet support 'search' or the 'cover art view'.
