Ericjb,

I will keep everyone posted if anything changes on the press and hold problem. But it is a new bug in the latest beta update.

My P&H macros are working fine with 92b. No button press failures yet.

Any chance the beta firmware can be more widely distributed? I know it's beta and it's not a finished release, but anything is better than what we have now..

thanks.

For me the currently released version (1.10.090) that's available to the public works better then either of the two most recent beta releases. Have you tried this release yet?

Mike hasn't seen the failed "Press and Hold" macro issue that I'm having. Has anyone else with the latest beta seen this issue besides me?

I sure hope this doesn't turn out to be some type of new intermittent problem that only affects certain configurations. Those are the hardest bugs to fix.

My 900 has been awful. A missed button press about every 5 presses on average when just moving around the remote and using various buttons.

I'm about to dowload the latest beta update and it should be quite easy to see if if helps.

Stay tuned.

Mitch: They are selling the 6416 up here, which has 160
GB HD instead of 120. Can you wait until they come out
in your area? Or would you be able to upgrade for nothing
when they do? Just a heads up.

I spoke to soon. They just hooked up my cable and they installed the 6416 NOT the 6412. Is there anything else that's different between these two boxes that I should be aware of?

Nothing else different except some 6416's may have an coax out as well.

In fact, as long as you have the firmware that supports the 6416 (12.26 or higher), you can turn a 6412 into a 6416 simply by swapping hard drives (assuming you own the box and it is not a rental).

There was another beta release today but the version number remained the same (.092b).

I have had numerous button press failures which mimic the results that Greg has had. It seems that every 5th button press or so the button fails to register. I've been trying to watch the LCD screen every time I press a button to see if it's the remote or my new Motorola 6416. It's to early to tell what the latest update has done so I will have to do some further testing before I can post any concrete conclusions.

I did notice that the latest beta now includes a Hex Editor. YAHOO!!!! I wasn't looking for this in previous beta versions so I'm not sure if it was in one of the earlier beta versions or not. But it's in the one I downloaded today.

Can anyone confirm which beta version this new feature (that many of us have been waiting for) was inmplimented?

The direct pronto hex entry has been in quite a few of the last beta versions. It works quite well so far.

There's definitely still some major problems with the latest beta updates. I came home today after being gone for several hours. I picked up my MX-900 and pressed "CABLETV" on the LCD screen and it didn't register the button press. Button presses seem to be failing between 30 and 50 percent of the time now.

This latest update seems to be the worst one so far for me.

I'm having the same kind of problems with my MX-3000. Occationally I will press a button, it beeps, nothing happens, then and 3 seconds later the MRF-300 and the associated IR flasher will blink. Also, occationally I'll press a button, it beeps and nothing happens, no MRF-300 or flasher blink. This happens with both hard buttons and on the touch pad.
Perhaps the techs should look at the programming that is common to both remotes.

The MX-3000 operates on a totally different platform then the MX-900. The MX-900 and MX-1000 are based on URC's own proprietary operating system. The MX-950 and MX-3000 are based on Microsoft's Windows CE operating system.

While the symptoms you are having may be similar, your issue is probably caused by something different then what we are experiencing with the MX-900.

Just so we don't hi-jack this thread, start a new one for your problem, but first set the ID wheel on the bottom of your MRF-300 to ID 0 and watch the status light. Re-state your problem in a new thread and report the findings of this task. We'll take it from there
