Hello,

I have been playing with my new 980 for the last couple of weeks and have everything working pretty well. I have a couple of tweaks I am looking to make in order to solidify some of the macros.

Equipment list:

Onkyo 806
Bell Expressvu 9200
Panasonic AE3000 projector
PS3

Mrf350 base station with MRF260 extender.

The main issue I have is the lack of discrete codes for the Panasonic Projector.

I would like to be able to better control the INPUT SELECTION between the satellite and the PS3. They are both connected to my projector via HDMI cables and corresponding inputs 1 & 2. The Panny projector does not have discrete codes to choose # 1 or # 2. You have to hit the input button and then use the left or right control on the remote to slide between the inputs. Or you can simply push the input button over and over until it scrolls through to the right input.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to utilize the if/else statements and some variables to help the MX-980 select the right input via some macro Alias moves.

My trouble lies in setting the variables to the correct input at the beginning of the process. Or trying to setup a macro that realizes what input the projector might be on.

Help if you can.

Thanks

If you have the SR806 why are you not running the HDMI through it??? Your missing out on the DolbyTruHD and DTS Master audio by not. By doing this you wouldn't have to worry about switching the projectors input.

I agree with the poster above. Run everything through the Onkyo and problem solved. Otherwise, I would create a variable to track the input on the projector and use nested if/else statements perform the macro to switch.

Also, if you'll check the discrete code section you will find discrete codes for the AE3000U. I use them and they work like a charm.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I was always under the impression that going direct from the source would be a better video feed than switching through an AV reciever. Are you guys suggesting that running my PS3 and my Satellite HDMI into my Onkyo Sr806 and then into the Projector will provide as good as signal as direct from each device to the projector?

"Also, if you'll check the discrete code section you will find discrete codes for the AE3000U. I use them and they work like a charm."

I was able to find discrete ON/OFF codes and discrete HDMI swithing code, but the HDMI discrete simply toggles through the HDMI 1 2 & 3 inputs. It does not allow for discrete selection of HDMI 1 or HDMI 2. Am I missing something, can you provide the link if there are discretes to select HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 directly.

Thanks again for all the help.

Cheers

I'll have to do some digging around, but I believe (99% sure) that the codes I used for HDMI selection (discrete, not HDMI toggle) came from here.

As for the signal quality, it's digital. It won't be affected. Just make sure your receiver's output resolution is set to "through" so it doesn't tinker w/ anything.

John, were you able to find out if the HDMI code was discrete or toggle. I can't find the discrete code for the AE3000 which will select HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 or HDMI 3, I have only been able to find the toggle.

Any help would be appreciated.

After going to the Video input and then sending the code for HDMI does it always go first to HDMI 1? If so then a work around would be for HDMI 1 would be:
1. Video Input
2. HDMI input

For HDMI 2:
1. Video Input
2. HDMI Input
3. HDMI Input

For HDMI 3:
1. Video Input
2. HDMI Input
3. HDMI Input
4. HDMI Input

This would be along the lines of old work around for Sony TVs of channel up and a certain number of input commands to get to the proper input.

But, I also agree to try sending it to the Onkyo first and let the Onkyo do the video switching.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The AE3000 does default to an HDMI setting, and I can set this default in the settings menu of the projector (ie HDMI 1). When powerd on it will default to HDMI 1 every time. The problem is that once the projector is one switching bewteen video sources becomes a headache. Setting variables can help to manage this, but inevitably variables settings sometimes get mixed up or missed on the remote and then the HDMI toggle macro gets mixed up as well.

I think I will take your advice and send all my HDMI's through the ONKYO.

Cheers
