The AE3000 does default to an HDMI setting, and I can set this default in the settings menu of the projector (ie HDMI 1). When powerd on it will default to HDMI 1 every time. The problem is that once the projector is one switching bewteen video sources becomes a headache. Setting variables can help to manage this, but inevitably variables settings sometimes get mixed up or missed on the remote and then the HDMI toggle macro gets mixed up as well.

I think I will take your advice and send all my HDMI's through the ONKYO.
