If you need, or know of some who needs help in southern CA please call
714-590-0060, and ask for steve. I do custom Home theater, , Satellite, and Plasma installation. Over 8 years experience. Can work by the hour, or by the job. I would prefer steady work, over top dollar, but wages must cover my fully stocked truck, and tools, and experience.

Thanks

Steve

I'm sorry, was this your advertising budget for the year? Perhaps you should discuss the ad with the site owner.

Cablebusters: Unfortunantly, in your one month and 11 posts (6 of them about Spiky and 4 of them looking for a job), you have generated 1 member complaint.

Spiky has been here 3 and a half years, made 1365 posts, and generated 0 complaints (excluding yours).

So, I'm going to have to suggest that you abandon your tiff with Spiky, since you are not on nearly as good footing as him. If you can't get along, then don't post.

Dear Buster of Cables,
When I first saw your post regarding employment, I thought I should keep you in mind. I mentioned to a co-worker that someone had posted about employment on remotecentral, and he responded, "Oh, but he is in Orange County." I had not noticed the phone number; it looks like you are in or near Anaheim.

At any rate, that discouraged me from considering calling you, but now that I have seen a major portion of your current oeuvre here at remotecentral, which includes the above highly deserved post from Daniel, I am totally relaxed about it. I would not hire you if you knew four times what you say you know.

You seem to have jumped into this site and immediately gone for someone's throat. That doesn't seem like a good approach for a person seeking work! You should have just hung out here for a few months, offering suggestions here and there from your self-proclaimed store of wisdom (for which you have not yet offered yet any proof). The, with some experience and a reputation here, you could lash out at the occasional idiotic thing that all of us, beginners especially, do from time to time.

The last guy I knew who jumped into a situation and started acting like he knew what should be done, instead of hanging out and going with the flow for a while, took a twenty year old A/V chain with about $20 million in annual sales and ran it out of business in a little less than two years.

Change! It's not too late! Don't be a guy who can just spoil things! (Because, among other things, it doesn't pay too well.)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

There are three things that new members need to figure out about this community:

A) there are a lot of people here that normally DO know what they're talking about - but no one's perfect;

B) most of them have an "interesting" sense of humor - just see the Intermission forum if you need further proof; and

C) although everyone does not always agree, ensuing arguements are expected to be handled in a professional and curtious manner WITHOUT name calling and bad language. 99.99% of the time, this is the case. In six years only a handful of threads have had to be closed due to degraded content.

Just sit back, relax, try to see the tone of posts rather than merely reading the words, and you'll have a good time!

agree with Daniel.

I would also add

4) this place has become a community there are a lot of regulars that means that with time we have gotten to know each other and even though we might disagree on stuff coming here and attacking a regular is an easy way to get people against you.

Obviously, you guy’s didn’t read the attack Spiky launched on me first, or you just want to give him a pass because he is in your "click", and I am not. Either way, I don't need any more un-provoked attacks from you good people, just because I came here looking for help. I apologize for having the balls to defend myself, and I have erased all negative responses. My offer of help is still on the table, if anyone is still interested, but please leave the attacks in my personal Email, and off this board.

Thanks
Steve

Stewve, don't know if he attacked you anywhere else, but when someone edits a post it leaves a message like the one at the bottom of your posts. Also there is no way to delete posts. So except if things happened in an other post or by e-mail there really was no bite to spiky's post.

Steve,

Don't let 'em grind you down. As my somewhat tongue-in-cheek post intimated, I too (quite unintentionally . . . mostly) have fallen foul of a few people on the forum - e.g. JJ Bugsy in this thread [Link: remotecentral.com] .

Fortunately, in this instance, it was easily remedied; JJ apparently being blissfully unaware that Mike (eeper, as he is know) and I have been firm friends for a few years now; ever since I assisted in the programming of his Pronto. However, there have been times, Mr T for instance, where in hindsight I think it would have been better had I kept my mouth shut.

My experience suggests that if someone, for whatever reason, takes against you there is little one can do to rectify the problem. One can write the most humble and grovelling apology, but as the "body language" aspect is missing, it is merely viewed as sarcasm (there truly are none so blind as those who do not wish to see). In instances such as this, I think, as tempting as it may be to defend oneself, it's best to bite ones tongue and leave alone.

David

PS
I see no reason not to offer you work, but alas I cannot help. I'm not in the business . . . and on the wrong side of the pond.

As you have read, I have apologized, but I have yet to get one from Spiky, either on, or off this board, which once again shows his arrogance!
