Any one know a single disc DVD player which will output Progressive and composite at the same time? I have a client who wants progressive feed to the theater, and when he gets tired, a modulated signal to his bedroom tv.

Perhaps you meant composite and component?

Most dvd players that have seperate Y,Pb,Pr outputs will have the other outputs running anyway. I know some Onkyo units mess about with whats on and when but most don't

I think that most of you guy's are mis understanding the question, because I've had the same one.

Which players will out put 480P component, and 480i composite (or s-video) both at the same-time, without any switches, buttons or brain-power needing to be expended.

imagine a very nice player (more that $189) that could put out a superb 480P in the theater room, but could be modulated to the bedroom too. (without needing to think if the progressive was turned on or not!!)

I wish I could find something to replace the RP-91 (it could)!!!!

I don't think any of these replies have missed the question. All of the Sony DVD players will output them at the same time, that I'm sure of.

Brent,

I'm with you on this...

I think there are VERY few PROGRESSIVE SCAN DVD players on the market that are capable of outputting PROGRESSIVE SCAN (480P)through their COMPONENT outs, and at the same time putting out an INTERLACED (480I) signal through their s-video or composite signal. This would require two seperate video output processors/encoders within the unit, which VERY FEW low end units fork over the green to do.

NOW...if you turn OFF the Progressive scan setting, then most WILL output interlaced through both the Component and S-Video/Composite out.

Greg C...I don't think you were that sleepy when you posted this. It is very logical to want progressive scan in a theater room.

Clarify this for us please....

If I'm reading your post correctly, then you want to output progressive scan 480P (the best signal) to the theater room, using the component outputs on the DVD player, while ALSO outputting a signal, presumably through the modulator, via composite, to the rest of the house?

If this is the case, then it won't work, as the player will try to output progressive to EVERY set of outputs, the modulator won't transmit it, and a TV on the other end that isn't HD won't display it correctly. Simply turn off the progressive setting, and do 480I everywhere.

To repeat the question, I need both the progressive component output and a composite output to be live at the same time. My client wants to be in the theater watching his Dwin TV-3 and if he gets tired, go to his bedroom and watch a modulated signal, while the rest of the family still watches the Dwin. I have tried a Sony DVD-VCR combo player(don't know the model) that does not feed composite when it is switched to progressive output. So the statement that every Sony will output both at the same time is incorrect.

I'm sorry I made that blanket statement. I cannot speak for DVD/VCR combo units as I never use them.
