Has anyone else got PEP v2 working on Vista 64-bit?

If you did, did you have to do anything special to get it to run?

Did not work for me on 64-bit Windows Server 2008 (basically the same as 64-bit Vista). It crashes while the splash screen is still up.

Is that the same behavior for others?

I have not gotten it to work in Vista x64 either. I had to install it on my Windows XP machine in order to use it.......That's just pathetic...

Presume the software installed....

Might it have something to do with .NET 2.0 priviledges on this platform? Anyone researching that area? UAC?

I don't run Vista so I cannot comment further. However, I know it is likely locked down more than XP.

Yeah, crashes at splash screen here too.

UAC is disabled on my machine. I have tried running as Administrator and I have also tried to run it in compatible mode. Nothing works so far...

I would hope this is something the Philips developers tested pre-launch but maybe some bug snack into the code at last minute! ;)

Looks like the Pronto Data Server is throwing an Error on boot although services still shows it running. I have had issues with DataSources and Vista 64 before. It seems 64-bit ODBC drivers are not readily available. From what Lyndel says that the DB must be running before PEP2 will start, that is likely the problem.

Same problem with Vista x64 here. Previous version worked fine. What database engine is used in PEP2

I sent an email to Philips regarding this problem. I haven't received any type of acknowledgment that they received the email though.

Perhaps Lyndel, Barry, or anyone else with insider connection might be willing to bring this to Philips attention?

Same issue here. V1 worked fine w/ Vista 64; this one stops working at the splash screen.

Looking at other apps with similar error codes (Problem Event Name: CLR20r3, Problem Signature 09: System.BadImageFormatException), it appears that this error occurs when an application in compiled in Visual Studio with target CPU platform set to "Any CPU" is run on an x64 system. App needs to be recompiled with target platform set to "x86" to trigger WoW on Windows x64 systems.

Anybody got either :
- Source code & visual studio for x64 ?
- Friends in Philips who respond to email ?

I do have VS 64-bit. What I don't have is the source code. But there is always reverse engineering the whole chabang and compile it I guess. ;D

Well, that's quite easy to fix. Just use the CorFlags.exe tool from the Windows SDK and add the 32BIT flag to the "ProntoEdit Professional 2.0.exe":

CorFlags.exe /32BIT+ "ProntoEdit Professional 2.0.exe"

...forcing the run in 32bit mode. It works like a charm then ;)

Cheers

I tried this and, well, what can I say.... IT WORKS!!! :D

Thank you Q, you're as much a genius as the old gray Q in the Bond movies. ;)
Oh, and welcome to RC as well.

For those of you that don't have CoreFlags.exe can find it here:

If the link goes dead before you get your hands on it, you can also find it here:

Bugger. Just spent the last hour figuring out how to do this, then found you had already posted it!

Anyway, I'm trying to upload a modified version of the ProntoEdit Professional 2.0.exe file to the downloads section. I've never uploaded here so sorry if it does not work (I'm a Pronto Noob).

Until then, anyone wanting to try can grab a zipped copy from me here -

Just unzip and overwrite the file in the default installation directory.
