Thank you Q, you're as much a genius as the old gray Q
in the Bond movies. ;)

At your service ;)
Oh, and welcome to RC as well.

Thanks!

Not me. The fix works great, allowing the program to run. However, the "My Database" and "Philips Database" are completely empty and do not even allow new codes to be entered. The pronto data service seems to be running, so I'm not sure where to turn.

Is the database working for the rest of you?

Nope - databases appear empty in the UI.

You probably need to set the EXE for the Windows Service to 32 bit mode:

C:\ProgramData\Philips\Common Database\ProntoDataService.exe

You are correct Peter. Running CorFlags.exe on ProntoDataService.exe made it work.

Thank you so much guys. Corflags, on the service as well, did the trick, and seems to have fixed other database problems that I had even with running it on XP. I was getting really frustrated with the buggy software (much swearing) , but now I can finally get started on my remote.

I created a fix for all these Vista 64-bit problems where you only have to double click a file. I sent this file to the files archive but I guess they go over all the files manually or something. Either way I got tired of waiting so I added the file to my web server.

Nice work all.

For those having problems modding the files themselves after installation, the modified versions of both "ProntoEdit Professional 2.0.exe" and "ProntoDataService.exe" are available here for a while with basic instructions on how to replace them (until I get it into downloads section).

I referred this thread to ProntoTeam and received this very warm response:

"Please share with the people who contributed to this fix that we really appreciate the efforts to come to this fix. It's great that the Pronto community contains so many enthusiastic and smart people. We will update PEP2 with the fix in the next release still planned for the end of this year."

Approx 3 months for a fix that you guys came up with and implemented in a day.
I love the 9600 to bits , but really the support is somewhat lacking.

I e-mailed them as well but I never received a reply. :/

It makes me all warm inside just thinking about them asking a customer to relay a message to other customers that there will be a fix in half a year.

Anyone else up for a laugh??? ;)

The software development is outsourced which makes it very hard to get things done in a hurry. I know, as I am going through the same process having some software developed overseas.

The issue is not urgent as there is a workaround.
