I work with an installer who insists on installing the base units RIGHT on top of the eqiupment, usually inconfined quarters, In addition , the RFX-150 or 250 is placed routinely either behind a plasma and or right on top of the base unit and equipment. His customers complain that the remote has terrible reception and barely works to sometimes not at all.
The latest is an MX-950 with an MRF-300 and RFX-150. he has a huge Samsung Plasma, Sci Atlantic box with a base unit right in the same cabinet as all the other eqiupment. The RFX unit is in the same entertainment cabinet, about 2 feet from the other equipment and the base unit.
Where do you guys usually install your base units and antennea? How many feet away, and high and has your experience been okay? I would say the installer has problems about 3 out of 5 times.
Thanks

I would reccondmend 8-10 ft away from anything that puts out rf interferents ( cable box, sat boxes and plasma's ) works the good . I would take cat 5 and bring the rfx-150 to the back of the room or in an attic or basement this isn't always possible but if you can i would. Also if the sa cable box is the 8300 hd that will give the remote rf problems. rf can be a little tricky but if you take a few easy steps it should be fine. last but not least don't turn the gain on the rfx150 to high only a quarter to half way if the base station is in the same as you. If you have any other question just ask.

the rfx 250 only looks for a small range of freq's where the 150 looks for a wide rage of freq's which cause all the rf problem's . the 250 was made to fix the problems installers had with rfx 150

I run a cat5 along with my video cables from my closet to the display wall. I find it helpful to install the antenna right on the back of the plasma. I usually have more problems with the HD cable box and no problems with plamas. Since I am already running a cat5 for a possible ir reciever or emiiter anyway.

I really like the new Liberty cable that sells an Mini RBG6 with 2 shielded 2 - C with ground.

Base unit wherever it will be easily accesible for troubleshooting in the cabinet or rack and cat5 to the ceiling (if an in ceiling speaker is going in), attic, or anywhere else to get the range and usability I desire w/o picking up interference for the rfx antenna. Essentially as high as possible for the rfx. I treat them like a wi-fi device....up high and in the origin if possible.

Where do you guys usually install your base units and antennea? As far away from the equipment and display as possible. I have put them close to the equipment on several locations and have not had too many problems. Mike
