I have noticed that on some of the xx08 model Denon receivers (1908 for instance), the delay after powering it on before it will accept an input command is stupid long.....maybe 6-8 seconds? Has anyone else run across this? I think the 1708 as well....I tested it on a few of our demo models but I cant remember which ones did it and which didnt...but it was the same with the OEM remote as well....just curious.

We are starting to do more Integra, and I have been very impressed with their "installer-friendliness" :)

I have a Denon 3808CI and MX-950 (my MX-980 should be delivered today, yeah!!), but this is how I have my HD DVR 1 macro setup:

Turn on 3808CI,
Turn on Pana 50PZ700,
Select Denon HD-DVR 1 Input,
Press Pana Input button,
Press Pana 4 button (for HDMI 1 input)
Go to Page HD DVR 1

I've never had an issue with it and there are no delays built into the macro.

I think the higher models dont have this issue.....but when I get a chance, I will test it out some more.

My experience is that they're a second or 2 longer than last years models...

Yes we learned about the 6-8 second delay needed, while doing a job in Arizona, if you're performing a 'one-touch' macro, with everything off.

It seems like the 08 Denon's need to 'boot up' for that amount of time, before accepting another IR command. (the denon rep said that the new units are basically computers in a black box).

We've noticed this in the 1908's, 2308's, the 2808's and 3808's, so far.

Har Har Har

Panny plazmas!!!! It's 2008 and they still don't have direct input commands.

Harrdy Har Har.

I just love it when it misses the input command ... but sees the number 4 so you end up on channel 4. Belly laugh.

Every panny I have done has had discrete input commands... not saying that there aren't a few without, however...

Yes.

The power up delay with IR and 232 are at least 3-4 seconds longer than previous models. The 232 is shorter but that is consistant with past models.

The 3808 and up are quicker surprisingly (6 seconds to be safe) but the lower models are about 8 seconds.

I noticed that the 2308 has about an 8 second control lag and an additional audio lag after you hear the amps click on.

Look in the discrete code section of the pronto file area here on RC. They have some Panasonic discretes in pronto hex format.

Did a job with a 32" Panasonic LCD (the 120Hz model, new at the time) and a MX-900/MRF-300 about 6 months ago. At first I was using the "Input" number sequence. Tried all the different discretes in the section mentioned above and found a set which worked.

Denon just came up with a firmware for the 3808/4308 to allow us to switch after 2 sec. Still not as good as Integra. ;-)

If you can work with the hex code, I can give you discretes that work for every plasma I have done in the last 3 or 4 years.

The same old tried and true panny discretes from the commercial line worked fine. I discovered the rest through testing... I added them to the RTI database already.

if you need... let me know

That would be most excellent.
