Rat's Nest: Amber Alert
Presenting the ProntoPro edition of my complete system setup file, now in gorgeous polished wood and tortoise shell! With sleeker curvres and more distinctly grouped buttons, finding your way is even more natual than before. In each new release I've put a ton of attention into making it easier to use and harder to goof up. Even people with big fingers should find the clearely labeled, large, yet spaciously arranged buttons to their liking. Quickly change source, navigate to any device, or rotate through a device's pages using the title bar, which includes a convenient pop-up menu. Toss in task-based macros (with progress bars for the longer ones) and you have an efficient system that's a real no brainer to use. Includes all the raw images and Photoshop source files if you want to create your own buttons and panels. Comprehensive documentation can be found at http://www.ratsnest.com/prontopro/.

Wayne Kramer's Super Minimal
This is my first attempt at a PCF. I did a lot of testing and learned a lot from everyone else's designs, so thanks a ton for that. Clearly this design is heavily influenced by contest entry #3 so props to Brian for it. I have been lurking on Remote Central for the longest time and this is my way of saying thanks.

I have tried to do three things with this design. One, I found most designs to be visually overwhelming so I tried to keep this one as minimal as possible. There is a slight transparency to everything that allows a background image of my old Mitsubishi TV to come thru. Its supper subtle so, I didn't bother changing it when I upgraded my TV last year. Everything was created as squares and rectangles in Photoshop without any outerglows, embossing or drop shadows. I have included 2 PSD templates if anyone wants to modify or update an image.

Two, anyone can use it with no more than 15 seconds of tutoring. I have had the design evolve over the last 2 years and after countless guests and a live in girlfriend, I am very confident of the navigability and flow. I have also kept all of the back end config options of replaced remotes out of the design. I am the only person that... (more)

This is an original design, except for the TV station graphics, a couple of buttons, and a rework of sat numbering. Color coding for each device, especially usefull for the 3 TiVos. Includes NFL schedule for last year but can be easily changed. This design is activity based, but can be used as a device-based.

Contest Entry #13: The Infrared Interstate
RUNNER UP! This is a completely custom PCF, with an emphasis on navigation and simplicity. The top area of the design remains consistent from one screen to the next, making operation of the remote fairly intuitive. An "All Devices" button on every screen gives the user access to a given device within two button presses. I've avoided duplicate buttons (like having 4-way toggles on screen) that might confuse novice users. All graphics (with the exception of the Favorites show icons) are 100% original.

iPhone-esque Design
This is version 1.4 of my iPhone-esque design for the ProntoPro NG, but now includes the new iPod Touch Interface! The iPhone interface is still tucked away in the PCF though for purists. During the design, I found that much of the interface needed to be modified to fit the needs of a remote control, so it's not so much a complete copy of the iPhone/iPod Touch interface, but more my interpretation. This file includes updated reflective graphics from the original version of my PCF. Also includes new battery icons and new headers. I am also including the Photoshop files of each icon set in the ZIP file for those wanting more flexibility in creating their own icons, channel buttons, transports, etc.

Contest Entry #33: Heavy Blue
This is a PCF file that I designed 100%. It contains many devices and has a consistent easy-to-use layout throughout. The system page contains a modified version of the chrome Pronto symbol that is used as a home page button. There are two satellite boxes, each with all available DirecTV channel icons, as well as channel icons for my cable TV channels - located in the TV device. The DVD jukebox contains jackets for over 300 DVDs and allow you to jump directly to that disc. The CD jukebox currently has a sample page with CD jackets, I haven't loaded my changer yet. In the discrete codes section there are macros to get to any of the 400 discs in the DVD jukebox and the 400 discs in the CD jukebox.

The file is large, but will download to the remote and simulates very well. The learning curve is very small. Enjoy it!

This PCF contains jacket covers for over 300 DVDs as well as macros for all 400 slots. Both satellites have all available DirecTV channel icons and macros. Very user friendly. 95% of all graphics were made by me. Only a few were borrowed.

Steve Martin's Comprehensive PCF
Unique design approach that attempts to include frequently used buttons on all panels and to minimize movement between panels. This is an update of my previous TSU7000 submission, with a more refined look. Other unique features include efficient navigation of 100 plus channel and music choice logos; extensive use of extended IR codes for Yamaha RX-V3300 including volume and home banks. See my extensive gallery files in the "Design Elements" file section!

Contest Entry #16: Mostly Chrome
I like chrome so most of the layouts are that. For the CD I used a copper layout. For the Tuner and DV Cam I used transparency. From the Home page, short transaction animations are used.

On the Devices page you will find more stuff including the VCR and the DV Cam. I like my 5.1 speaker balance page which you can get to from most devices by pressing the 4-speaker button. You just select the speaker you want to adjust and use the left or right arrow keys. If you click the "RECEIVER SETTINGS" button you'll get to a page where I was experimenting with nature buttons. Looks like it could use some cloud buttons!

A neat GUI that I snagged from GUIStuff.com, so I can't take credit for any of the graphic work other than remote buttons. The rest is a complete file, including macros already set up - simply drop in your IR commands and you "should" be ready to go! Drop a line on the email to let me know what you think... Thanks!
