I need a remote control that will control a Crestron system. So far the only one I found is the one that crestron makes ($300) or a Phillips pronto. The IR that it uses is 455Khz. Does anyone know a cheaper solution or a vendor that will make remotes to that spec for me? The Crestron model is CNIRHT-30 and I need a few hundred.

Any ideas? Thank you!

You sell the Crestron CNIRHT-30 remote control for $3000?? I am a Crestron dealer and I am looking for a cheaper alternative to that remote control. The device it talks to is a CEN-TVAV.

I looked into doing a Crestron system. Wow - what sticker shock. What's amazing is that the technology to perform all the controlling is not that expensive. The average PC can perform more functions than the Crestron. But, I guess the captive market allows them to charge so much.

Contact Mr. John Davis or Mr. Fred Bolton at Universal Remote Control.

jdavis@urcmx.com and fbolton@urcmx.com

The new MX-700 will control devices up to 455khz (the Pronto will not).

They can provide you with the information, and quotes you need, etc.

3K is utter lunacy but we have to understand that the
market Creston caters to generaly has more money than
brains. The average joe with a working knowledge of PC
and IR systems could easily duplicate what Creston has
done, on a home PC and it could be made to look any way
you so desire, and it could also interface with far
more items like home security, Home Automation and what
not... JMHO.

that obviously means we must not sell the CNIRHT-30...;the crestron controls much more...and does it in an incredible comercial quality and profesional manner than you can imagine if you have never seen or used it in person; heated floors, lighting(lutron),blind controls, video routing/switching, fire place control, camera control, alarm, net access and more....some of it might be able to be done with a computer( i don't think nearly as dependable as crestron)...besides people don't want to wake up in the morning and mess with a computer...they want to wake up and be able to press "good morning" on any touchpanel in the house and pre-selected lights dim on; there prefered music comes on; floors start to heat; certain blinds open the shower turns on...or they want to be able to be lounging at the pool and have a 2-way rf remote to show what cd is playing by two way communication with an escient or audio request player......or monitor the incoming power consumption from the side off the house....or show who's at the front door or front gate...and to open the gate from that location and dim those lights up for there guest to walk in...Robert

Robert,

Ohh in other words, My dream house? Ok but does it come
with a maid too? :)

I did not realize the Creston was a controller for all
of those accesories. But still 3K is steep for nothing
more than a glorified PC.. But as you said some people
don't want to mess with a PC in the morning. Thus they
have made it as un-PC like as possible.

I have seen the images of the setup and it looks great
but for 3 large beans I will pass, Untill I own that
500K or so house (that I won't ever own) :)

P.S can you control a Bedae (Sp?) toilet too? That way
you can "Hands Free" wipe your butt! :)

Robert, allow me....

Brett, you got the pronunciation right, but it's spelled "bidet", a French word. It's definitely NOT a toilet, it's used for cleansing the privates, more like a straddle-bathtub.

Personally I don't know but it seems your making a stong bid for the "Who Wants to be a Millonaire" phone a friend.

Ah, thank you (I think :-) ), my friends and I refer to my outputs from my vast trivia banks of knowledge as "Clavinisms", so I should have caught that one right away. (I'm pretty sure it's Clavin, not Claven, but I could be wrong)
