While it's true the Prontos or the RTI's are not up to the challenge of controlling the large jobs that require Crestron or AMX, they beat the pants off the RF remotes available. I have always despised the TXC series and have been substituting the RTI remote for about a year. I have yet to use one of the new Prontos for this purpose.

I don't disagree completely with you JCW, but some people really like the TXC remotes. Either they want hard buttons or something they can drop and it'll still work. We've got TXC remotes that I'm guessing have been out there for 10-15 years (not sure when they first were introduced) and they're still working.

Yes, the txc's will certainly prove to be the more reliable option over time. I have only replaced two I think over the years. I have not swapped out for an RTI yet and had one complaint except for poor rf range that was remedied with some tweaking. BTW...the RTI's have hard buttons. I can see that very old people might like to continue to use the txc's....but thus far- not in my experience.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
