I too own a Yamaha receiver (RX-V2095). I have heard people complain about thier brightness. I happen to like detail , which is what I call it. I am also looking at the Paradigms but don't want to turn the slight brightness of my amp into harshness. Are Paradigms and Yamahas a decent combo? What about Dynaudio Audience 51 or NHT 2.5i? I tried B&W and found the 603s2 too muddy and the CDM7se bright with rubbery bass. Yes I know, speakers are VERY subjective. Just looking for a little insight. Thanks!

Yamaha and Paradigm's aren't a great combo, IMHO, for exactly the reason you say, Rob. I'd say your NHT's would be good, but you need some power to drive them.

I found out a couple of days ago, that Paradigm, Def Tech, Nuance and a couple of other Canadian speaker companies were all started by the same guy. I forget the name. He keeps trying new things. I thought that was pretty interesting.

I'd have a look at the Def Tech's and if you can find a dealer with Nuance Speaker's, I think they would be a great match for the Yamaha. They are Canadian, as I said above, but they have a great sound dispersion and a nice neutral sound. I just had a two hour demo on Saturday.

Thanks Gregorius, I did give the Def Techs a listen. They were bipolar and I didn't care for the vague sound on music. I guess also, Yamaha doesn't recommend bipolars . It works against thier sound field processing. Is 100 WPC enough to drive the NHTs? I know they're pretty inefficient. The place I listened to them ran them on a 80WPC Sony ES and I had to have the voulmn at at least 50% to get them going. I'm guessing my amp has a little more current than the Sony

I have Monitor 9's.adp,370's,cc-370,and a ps1000. The paradigms are driven by my rxv-1000, and I can't get enough of it. I'm a NHT,Paradigm, and Klipsh dealer, and I know the best value is the mini monitor's.

I haven't heard them, but I hear the Energy Take 5 speakers are good value.

Thanks for all the input. This is a repost from May. I have purchased the Paradigm speakers and I am VERY PLEASED AND AMAZED. I have the monitor 7's, monitor 3's, and the CC-370. I finished the system out with a Velodyne VLF-1012 subwoofer. The system is driven by a Yamaha RXV-995 receiver. I am very happy with the outcome and I appreciate all the input and help from the remotecentral participants. Good listening.

Glad that everybody here is enjoying their Paradigm speakers. I haven't posted recently since I've been doing some career changes.
I was a manager at Sound Advice in Florida (soon to be Tweeter) and I moved over to a different company as an audio video design engineer. The new company's focus is performance. We are the only Wilson Audio dealer in the southeast. We also carry the Paradigm line. I do admit, the Paradigms are hard to beat for it's price. I do prefer the Reference gear, but i'd put up a set of Atoms up against anything in it's price range. Glad to hear that everybody is happy with their speakers. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!!

Just wanted to chime in for the benefit of anyone who's considering getting the Paradigm monitor series. Don't get me wrong, I've listened to them, and they do sound great.

Up until today I'd have said that the Paradigms offer the best price to performance ratio on the market, particularly in speakers under $1000 per pair.

But today I heard the B&W DM 303s. All I can say is WOW. I had seen an ad for the 300 series, calling them "modestly priced loudspeakers". I figured that coming from B&W, that meant they'd be around a grand a pair.

Turns out they sound like that, but they actually cost only three hundred bucks! I was stunned.

They use the justly famous Nautilus tweeter, with a woven fiberglass bass/midrange driver. Bass extension is really quite good for a speaker this size. But the overall silky smooth, refined and accurate sound is incredible at this price.

Paired with a good subwoofer they'd be great.

As of now, I can't imagine that there's anything else on the market that can beat this sound for anywhere near the price.
