Just wanted to chime in for the benefit of anyone who's considering getting the Paradigm monitor series. Don't get me wrong, I've listened to them, and they do sound great.
Up until today I'd have said that the Paradigms offer the best price to performance ratio on the market, particularly in speakers under $1000 per pair.
But today I heard the B&W DM 303s. All I can say is WOW. I had seen an ad for the 300 series, calling them "modestly priced loudspeakers". I figured that coming from B&W, that meant they'd be around a grand a pair.
Turns out they sound like that, but they actually cost only three hundred bucks! I was stunned.
They use the justly famous Nautilus tweeter, with a woven fiberglass bass/midrange driver. Bass extension is really quite good for a speaker this size. But the overall silky smooth, refined and accurate sound is incredible at this price.
Paired with a good subwoofer they'd be great.
As of now, I can't imagine that there's anything else on the market that can beat this sound for anywhere near the price.
