These guys know a lot more than I but when I connected my receiver to the Sony SAT-A4 receiver I also was not getting DD. After spending much time looking at cables and configurations I discovered on the Sony system that you had to call up a menu and select DD to set it to receive DD sound. It seems like a no brainer now but at the time it was a mystery in which I check and recheck my cables. After selecting the DD in the menu box everything worked fine. I not familiar with the RCA and don't know if this is applicable. I only mention this as a another possible solution that I don't see listed here.

Greg, That coax (to tv) is for an optional,
second tv and is controlled w/ the tv/video or tv/dss button on the remote control (sony anyways) Also, take that component audio out of your tv and put in the input ie; Video 1, of your receiver. This is how you decode to Pro Logic. The optical is for DD. You must also be sure you're sending a DD signal to your receiver from the DBS. So in a nut shell, you should connect s-video to the tv, component AND digital to the receiver. Did somebody already say this?

All righty, everything seems to be working. I tuned into channel 800 the Dolby Digital demo, and switch the signal on my A/V receiver to Digital and it works great. Now I am confused are there any stations that will broadcast their movies in Doblby Digital as apposed to Prologic. I could not find another station that was broadcasting in Dolby Digital. When are they going to start broadcasting more movies in Dolby Digital. Switching back and forth from DD to Prologic on the same station I can really tell the differenc.

Another thing is I noticed that when the signal is switch to Digital I do not here the audio for anything else only Dolby Digital. Should I have to switch the signal to Digital and back to anaolog. Do other people out there with Digital DSS receivers have to switch to back and forth.

Greg I'm glad you got it all working to really appreciate what DSS has to offer. There is usually a few channels whith Dolby Digital movies playing, as I mentioned in an earlier post they are usually listed as Letterbox and on pay per view channels and also channel 520. Tonight channel 112 is playing Arlington Rd. in Dolby Digital 5.1 and 520 playing Psycho in 5.1.
Keep an eye on 520 it is always Digital but only some movies in 5.1 and sometimes
in Digital 2.0.
Direct TV keeps saying more will come in DD. as the demand increaces.
