These guys know a lot more than I but when I connected my receiver to the Sony SAT-A4 receiver I also was not getting DD. After spending much time looking at cables and configurations I discovered on the Sony system that you had to call up a menu and select DD to set it to receive DD sound. It seems like a no brainer now but at the time it was a mystery in which I check and recheck my cables. After selecting the DD in the menu box everything worked fine. I not familiar with the RCA and don't know if this is applicable. I only mention this as a another possible solution that I don't see listed here.
