Hello,

I just bought the Panasonic PV-DV 401. Now that I'm recording, I have to sit in front of the TV to operate play, FF, etc.

I have a couple of universal remotes taking up space and, if needed, might even place them on my RS 15-1994.

So, anyone know how I can locate any codes for a camcorder? My search here and other sites hasn't turned up anything.

TIA

Chris

I guess it's not being dumb to say that your camera has to have an IR port to receive remote commands, which means there must be a remote control for it somewhere. If it comes with the next model up, maybe you can take your URC to the store with you and sweet talk the salesdude into letting you learn the commands. Other than that, all I can say is I have a Sony camcorder that comes with a remote, and I taught the commands perfectly to a couple of my own remotes. I haven't found a URC yet that lists video cameras, although I have asked a couple of companies if they would include them.

Hmmmm.... I wonder if the commands are the same as for
VCRs in the same brand lineup... .... Mike

Sometimes you can get lucky and find a VCR code that works the camcorder. If the camcorder came with a remote then you can use any learning remote.

You could add the code to the 15-1994 using JP1, but you'd still need to know what codes the camcorder uses, assuming like Mike said, that it even responds to infrared signals.

Sony uses 3 command formats, which can be switch selected on many of their universal (within the Sony line)remotes AND VCRs. When I had a Sony Hi8 camcorder, my VCR rempte operated it perfectly, so one of the standard Sony VCR device codes should work.
