Thanks for all the hard work on this pcf. Great job. I can only imagine how much time you've got into this. How much, seriously?

I hope this question isn't out of line, but is there any chance you've made or plan to make device icons for X-10. I've spent hours modifying the png's and trying to cobble something together but it only ends up looking bad when placed next to your originals. It's probably my lack of skill, rather than the degree of difficulty, thats more to blame. :(

Thanks a bunch!!

Randman - due to the extra space occupied by the UI, I decided not to use those and instead put categories in the upper icon region. Those buttons didn't really match the style anyways...

Boarderbiker - I didn't do X-10 specific, but there's ones in there for Lighting... do you really need X-10 specific?

I guess need is a relative thing. We need air, we need food, a little sex is also good. On that scale I guess I don't really need device icons for X-10 but it would be nice. Truth be told, and the little woman would agree with me here, I probably don't really need a remote control that cost so much, but there's that whole relativity thing again.

Actually, I use my X-10 for more than just lights. I have several appliance modules set throughout my place. Please make no mistake, I'm nothing but grateful for all your efforts. I thought you might possibly have done them and just not included them. If you don't have them and don't mind doing them that would be fantastic. If you don't want to do them, that's okay too. If you could provide blanks I'd be more than happy to continue my butchery of the job. Please, any butchers out there, no offense intended. Seriously though, it would be very much appreciated by at least one person here. Thanks again.

I, for one, would love iPod icons in large and small. I realize that MP3 could fit the bill, but a specific iPod button would be soooo much cooler. That is, if you find the time, Daniel.

Thanks for considering it.

I don't use the default gallery available in PPENG, but I recently realized that it has iPod icons.

OK, a slight update, X-10 & iPod device buttons; plus those category buttons.

Thanks Daniel! That was awesome. I did have one more request that I completely forgot about. Is it possible to have device icons for multiroom? I have been using a text button for this for so long, I forgot that a device icon would match the page much better.

Thanks again for all the help!

I purchased my TSU7000 about four moths ago and was hoping that Daniel would do his layout in color. I have been using his B&W PCF's until now. Thanks Daniel for helping me move over to color. Everything downloaded without any problems.

Hey Daniel, thanks again for the X-10 device icons. I've got a question for you about the labels in your gallery. I've been trying to modify them to suit my needs. My experiences with modification of graphics are pretty basic, mainly changing stuff pixel by pixel and copy/pasting. Your other graphics when opened with any photo editor appear correctly but when anything on the labels page is opened, with every editor I've tried, they appear as the correct size but are black and red shapeless blobs. I've tried Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and CorelDraw and all 3 distort the images so badly that they're unrecognizeable. Am I missing something?? Thanks again.

It seems to be the way the software has reduced the bitdepth (to make the file smaller it has been downloaded to the remote and then uploaded again).

Those particular labels have been converted to a paletted PNG with alpha transparency, and it doesn't seem that even Photoshop knows how to deal properly with it.

Interestingly my video editing software can better load these images, however red is converted to blue...

Yeah, I had the same experience as Boarderbiker with the labels. When using Photoshop CS2, I get black rectangles where the lines are and red rectangles where the red text should be. At least I know it's not my environment.

BTW - question on how to save PNG files from Photoshop - I seem to have better luck (i.e. graphics are consistently loaded properly into PPENG) when I use the "Save for Web..." item in the File menu. Is this how others save PNG files from Photoshop?
When I do File->Save As and select PNG, the PNG file that is created doesn't look like the same graphic when loaded into PPENG.

This is an obscure PNG format that no one else seems to know how to deal with (although I did find that Macromedia Flash MX can load them). Basically a transparency value is assigned to each palette color, and software like Photoshop isn't reading that, resulting in everything showing up as 100% of the base color (red or black).

I was going to say that this shows excellent space optimization by PPENG, except that I noticed that when checking one of these paletted images, the original 24-bit version is 1240 bytes and the 8-bit paletted version is 1794 bytes. Other reduced images fared better, such as a device icon where the original 24-bit is 7859 bytes and the 16-bit version is 5900 bytes.
