I have just got a TS1000 second hand. It would not connect to my PC so I went into the menu and hit Revert. Here's where it started...... I got an error screen that states "Invalid configuration file version" and only one option. A revert button that is meant to set the device back to the original configuration. This just resets the device back to this same screen with a couple of beeps..... Please help....... I have not even had a chance to use this remote yet..
I had an issue where the backlight was broken so I replaced the L1 coil with a 220uh non-surface mount coil and this worked fine until this issue....could they be related....
Things that I have done..
1...Tried to reset 2...Tried to use HyperTerminal - Can not comunicate with device 3...Tried leaving the batteries out - comes back the same 4...Tried to run firmware upgrade - errors because I have not reset properly 5...Tried to use the undead function on tonto - asks for a reset and then stays at 2% 6...Tried to use the firmware upgrade on tonto - asks for a reset and then stays at 2% 7...Just about to try to throw it against the wall.....
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I doubt the coil is the issue but maybe something jostled loose while you were replacing it. You could have a cold-solder joint on the jack where the PC cable connects. You might want to reheat the connector.
What is the COM port on your PC? Do you have device driver problems? Are you using a real RS-232 port or is it a USB adapter?

The COM port is COM1 and I am not sure what the cable is called but it is a COM port connect to what seems like a headphone jack that plugs into the Pronto...It is not the USB cable

I think you should investigate Philips Pronto repair for this unit.
I had a similar thing happen in the same day with two Marantz RC5200s. They did not get stuck in the beep-beep loop, but I could not download or upload with either of them. With a real COM1 port. I have so far only sent in one for repair but it was a problem on the board.
I sent in a Philips TS1000 a couple of years ago and got a different, refurbed one, for something like $75.00. It was a pain to have to pay for it to be fixed, but this problem sounds like they need to handle it.

That sounds like a good idea however I am in Australia and the Philips in Australia do not want anything to do with me. I took my pronto there when the backlight was out, they said that it was unfixable and I would have to just throw it away. 10 minutes on this site and I knew what I had to do....
Please, anyone there must be something that I can do ...

You could always try the freezer trick.
Remove the screen and battries. Stick it in an airtight bag and put it in your freezer for a few days. Take it out and leave it till it heats back up to room temp then put it back together. This should wipe the memory completely.
Only do this as a last resort by the way.
