All,
Just like the subject line says, I'll be receiving my TSU500 tomorrow and am looking for any advice for the first things I should be doing.

Thanks for all replies,
Sam

1. Download the latest version of NEOEdit. Don't bother installing what's on the CD.
2. Before you install the software, disable any PDA program (Hotsync, etc) that might be using a COM port.
3. I found it helpful to map out on a piece of paper what exactly I wanted the thing to do. This made creating Macros much easier.

Dude, your getting a Neo! I have had mine for 3 days and had to start from scratch several times because I didn't get enough info first. RTFM! It really helps to read the Neo Edit manual first to see all of the functionality that this has. Sit back and map out how you would like this to work. This has made my entertainment center accessible to my wife and guests. Have fun!

I got mine about a week ago and must say I like it. My only complaint is that the NeoEdit software isn't idiot proof. Several times I've "lost" configurations because I forgot to upload to the new before learning new codes or forgot to save before downloading from the neo. It seems the main problem is the neoEdit software lets you have the same file open in different windows which burned me quite a few times. Another issue is that the supplied library operated about 1/2 the buttons on 1/2 of my devices. the other 3/4 just didn't work at all and I had alot of ir learning to do. I've also found learning can be tricky. if you have trouble learning one button, skip it and come back later. chances are it will work. I think it has something to do with holding the button to long or not long enough???

Keep your receipt and box just in case. There's a lot I like about the Neo and a lot I don't. I tend to agree with some others in the opinion that the Neo is not ready for prime time. However, It all depends on your components. The list of built in codes is skimpy at best and there is no compatability with Pronto ccf files. If you plan on Lutron remote controlled lighting and discrete codes for your equipment, expect to make a part time job out of the Neo. I may still exchange mine for a TSU2000.
