Anybody know if I can somehow get the URC-200 (Automator) remote to operate on a Tivo Remote address of 1 and 2?

I have a Series 2 Tivo and want to get a Series 3 Tivo also. The preset codes for the URC-200 seem to only program remote address 0.

yes the only tivo codes preset into the urc200 are for address zero, so you have to abandon the preset codes and learn all commands from both tivo remotes set to an address other then zero.

If you have trouble learning the commands, i'm sure you will, its the urc200 fault. I have find the best way to teach is to have remote touching it head to head, and using short & abrupt presses of the tivo remote keys.

URC-200 will not learn Fast Forward, 4, or 7 :(

the RF-20 will but I hate the feel of this remote.

Anybody know if the MX-350 will learn these keys? Is the MX-350 more like the URC-200 or RF-20 with respect to programmability capabilities? I prefer the look/feel of the URC-200 but the programmability tweaks that the RF-20 has.

Use the RF20 to teach the urc200. Only urc- series has this learning troubles, URC made remotes before and after the urc- series had no trouble learning.

Only one button would not learn (Remote Address 2): the Thumb Down button. Thumb Down would not learn on the RF-20 or the URC-200 if the remote address is 2. Every other button seems so far to have learned though.

Thanks so much Edmund. You helped me out a lot. :)

Any ideas why it won't work for me?

I've tried it several times with both RF-20 and URC-200. All times after learning, the remote shows signal sent, but Tivo never registers a "hit" (light on Tivo never lights). And the Tivo remote works it so it's functional.

No luck :(

The remote says GOOD, but when I point it at Tivo, Tivo never "lights" a hit when I push the button. Although the Tivo Remote works fine.

Anything else I can do to find a solution? Somewhere to research?

A couple of years ago there was a problem with tivo remotes where no learning remote could be taught the FF command of them, the only remedy was to get the command from a different source, either another remote or use the preset commands. You might have similar problem here with thumbs down command.

Have you used both tivo peanut remotes to teach? They might be from different batches, just change it to the address two and try it.

The one-for-all universal remotes like the urc-6820, 8820, and 10820 have preset codes for tivo remote addresses 1-4. Each has access to advanced codes, so if the thumbs commands aren't preset, then can be mappedvia advanced codes. which are 5 digit codes for individual functions. Then you can use them to teach the urc200, the urc6820 & 8820 can be had For under $20 on-line.

I have the urc-8820B00 One-For-All. I'm going to try some of the presets for Tivo in the manual. See if it has a Thumb Down.

Only the OFA urc 6820, 8820, 10820 and 6690 have setup codes for tivo addresses other zero. If you have any other OFA remote, it may have a tivo code but it will be address zero.

Ugh. I can't get the 8820 to work. I put in brand new batteries and it still won't light up its LED at all. I don't know what's wrong with it.
