the Tivo address 2 codes in the 8820 are PVR 0745 & SAT 1444.

Once one of those codes are programmed, to get the thumbs down:

1. SAT or PVR
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter code 0 0 2 4 5
6. pick a key

edmund, I don't know what's wrong with my 8820. The LED won't light even after trying brand new batteries out of the package. I'll have to buy another remote, but I can't find the 8820 for sale anywhere.

The local store has a "Philips Universal Digital DVR" remote (PMDV8). Do you know if this one has Tivo Remote Address codes?

As for as I know the only universal remotes with preset codes for tivo addresses other zerro are the ones listed in this thread.

If you can find a OFA urc-8910, 9910, or 9960 they can be upgraded over the phone with tivo address 2 codes.

edmund, I ordered a new 8820 online. Thanks so much for the Tivo remote address 2 codes/info. Do you happen to have the corresponding info for Tivo remote address 1 as well?

address #1 PVR 0740 or SAT 1443

address #2 PVR 0745 or SAT 1444

address #3 PVR 1239 or SAT 1538

address #4 PVR 1240 or SAT 1539

what does code 00245 do? you mentioned this above. Does this assign the key of your choosing or is this a "Thumb Down" code?

It assigns a key of your choosing to be the thumbs down command. Advanced code 00245 is the thumbs down command. Other tivo advanced codes are here:

[Link: hifi-remote.com]

You will have to add two zeroes to the front of each advanced code in that link, since the 8820 only takes 5 digit advanced codes(another name is EFC).

The EFC's may look different, but there only 256 available EFC to a setup code, 00000-00255. After 00255 they repeat. So 00000= 00256= 00512 and so on.

It's kinda ridiculous that I bought two expensive remotes (URC-200 and RF-20) and neither can run multiple Tivos (remote addresses). And yet a $20 remote would give me this capability.

I'm disappointed in my Universal Remote Control remotes for this fact. It's unacceptable that remote address codes aren't provided.
