Look again. Panja went BYE BYE with the CEO a couple of years ago. AMX again. Crestron and AMX are the leaders with some computer controlled stuff trying to take a bite.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Crestron

In the last five years, AMX has gone from AMX to Panja to Phast, to AMX to panja to AMX to phast to netlilnx by amx to blah blah blah.......

Crestron

If you don't need the ultra high end stuff, try the Intellinet Controls systems from Russound...the new RS-3000 is supposedly quite slick...

We also use Elan and their VIA pannels. They are very (very!) limited on customizing of the screen but they really get the job done for a lower price than AMX and Crestron.

I think you're mistaking product lines with the company name. AMX went to Panja about 3 years ago and then changed back to AMX about 1.5 years ago, that's it.

Personally I have AMX in my house, but I work on about 50/50 AMX and Crestron. I'd go with AMX if you want to do a lot of web-based control or have more than one master controller.

That's funny...

So all those keypads that I put in the wall that said PHAST, and PANJA, AND AMX, and LANDMARK were all from different companies, and just seamlessley integrated together???

The PHAST training manual in my garage that was printed about three years ago isn't for AMX or Panja products...even though it references all three.....

The CF-8 that I used that said landmark on the side of it, worked seamlessly with an amp that said PHAST on the front...

Fact is, they changed names several times, and re-branded long lists of products the same way...I still have several PHAST DMS keypads in the garage, right next to them I have some AMX DM keypads, and right next to those I have a PANJA keypad (at least that's what the stickers on the back say)

I have done phast and crestron and russond the real question is what do you need to do. Crestron is the best right now. Phast is dead almost. Russound has some cool cheap products that if your clever most houses would be ok with, but not big jobs cutom homes with lighting security hvac poolcom etc: Not to mention Home Theater.

OK, Here is the Progression of AMX....

AMX
-Some GUys from AMX break of and Develope PHAST
-AMX says thats cool, and re-integrates PHAST into AMX
PHAST becomes Division of AMX with "Landmark" as the Hardware designation
-PHAST Fails Misrebly..........
AMX COnverts to Panja
PHAST name goes away, product continues as LANDMARK series
Dust setles from PHAST fiascos..........
Panja renamed back to AMX

Somewhat condensed, but that was the general progession......

Axcess, and Netlinx are Product Lines within AMX, Same with G3/G4/Modero Touchpanels.....

Landmark is still around and works very well now.

To COmpare to Crestron....

Axcess would be like CNMSX series product
Netlinx would be like "2" series Product.

For Panels, G3 are ST type panels and G4 are TPS type panels.... G$ panels do a LOT more than Crestrons TPS though.... and the new 17" WIdescreen is AWESOME...

While AMX is developing more and better CONTROL products (These ARE Control Companies, Crestron is developng more products away from the Control Processors and Toucpanels now...... Somone said something about a Crestron Plasma TV even.....

I believe Crestron is trying to diversify their line to include the 'small room' market. Instead of a hang and bang projector, screen install, now for under a grand you can get an element of control as well with their new QM series stuff. Really cool products. But, if you want hardcore control, they also still have the best control processors on the market. AMX is a second rate product these days.

IMHO.

Just finised AMX training........

All I have left is the designer course and I will be ACE certified AMX programmer in Netlinx.

As a software engineer by trade, and into my first system, AMX is quite fun for a programming interface.

As far as a choice for what dealership, AMX seems like a company that is very pleasant to deal with.

It seems like AMX is a company that is on track now, and the development environment is one that I have no complaints with.

I hope to see an AMX RF wireless control sucessor to the viewpoint that is more like a viewsonic smartdisplay. Sort of like a mini modero that is wireless.........(I know the modero is wireless, I have one....)...I would just like to see a mini modero that can sit on your lap while lounging on the sofa......

Nope, your wrong. It has been AMX to Panja and back to AMX. Landmark, Netlinx, Axcess etc are all lines of gear.

Anyone notice Ozzy Osbourne smacking his Panja touchscreen around while the AV guy says "these systems are so easy to operate we just program them and leave them with the customer...no istructions needed!" I laughed my ass off. We ALWAYS leave instructions for the simplest thing. I've had a customer actually say "So if I want to turn the system on what do I do?" Um well sir, you have to press the 'SYSTEM ON' button" "What if I wan't to watch a DVD?" "Ummmmm, I think you have to press the 'WATCH A DVD' button but I'm not sure...lemme check my manual"
