Long time reader first time poster. Thanks to all who make this such a great site. Had the Remote for couple Years now.
Main Issues:
Layout: TSU9600 pre pepv2, Firmware 5.0.6 RFX9600 controller, Firmware 1.1.36
Issue: I was having many for some time, command fails, wifi disconnects ect… Most all that got fixed with the replacement of my Router. I now run a Hawking HWRGM1A (recommend router via Phillips). The router is 6 to 8 feet in the equipment room from the tsu9600. The signal is strong, all bars most the time. IT does bounce around some, which Is odd beings the signal, and distance should allow it to be strong all the time. Here is where the main issue comes in. I set the unit in the cradle for the evening/day, Pick it up the next evening, it connects showing 2 bars. That’s it won’t get any better, doesn’t matter how close or far away you move the TSU9600. The only way is to cycle the power. Once rebooted and connected it has full bars again and works fine.
The TSU9600 is set for 24 hour, basic WEP64 security. I don’t see a reason why it would do this. The other access point is at the far corner of the house. I don’t feel it could be reconnecting at some point to it instead of the local one in the Home Theater. I mean that might explain it, but I don’t think that is the case.
I hope I have provided enough information that might help in any ideas of why the TSU9600 is doing this.
Side Issue:
Is there any rules to order when setting a Macro. EG: sending RS232 before IR (either IR thru extender or direct to a device) For some reason my command RS232 to turn on the Main Zone of my Yamaha RX-V3800 fails to work, ( Used to work every time) The projector turns on (direct IR) and the Screen goes down (extender IR) and all the jumps ect work fine. But the Receiver fails to. The flipside is the OFF Macro, ( turning off the projector, screen up, receiver off, lights on) that Macro works correct every time.

It is possible that it is losing the signal from the router and picking up WAP at some point. I have had this issue before.
Phillips has a WIFI reconnect module that you can load onto program. Basically you can hit a button and it will automatically disconnect from the WAP and reconnect to the router. It only takes about 60 seconds to reconnect and it is much faster that a reboot.
I had to call Phillips to get this from them. For some reason they don't post it on the website. Probably don't want anyone to know they know it is an issue.

Thanks, The AP is a ways away, but I do have 7db antennas on it. I might change them back and see if the issues subsides.
I do recall reading about that program. Does it require PEPV2?, I was thinking I seen where it did. Nevertheless I will look into requiring it.

Router is at 6, AP is at 1, I can try 11

try each channel, then test
if it makes a difference stick with it
ps. are you operating 2 wifi devices (a router and an access point ?)

Yes, The AP is a story up and 50 to 60 feet away. It should not be reaching down there, if it is it would be very low. The Router is 6 to 8 feet away from the Remote. Only thing in between it is a piece of drywall.

try changing the channel on the router until you loose the 'command failed'
you might be getting interference for the other unit
keep trying until it is good for you

UPDATE!
OK, so updated the remote to the latest firmware. I changed my routers channel to 11 from 6, AP is on 1. I changed the antennas on the AP back to the stock ones. I checked the range of the AP. It’s not reaching the basement.
The remote connected and showed full bars, no error codes or command fails. All seemed good. After the third time of picking up the remote to Fast Forward the show I was watching it connected and had 1 bar of signal. The commands still worked fine. I then picked it up 3 more times each time it connected with only 1 bar, yet I didn't have any problems. I then ran the power off macro, worked flawless.
With this said, how do you all take what is going on. Why would it have full bars for a Couple of connections, then goes to only 1 bar, but still work correctly. A reboot is the only way to get it to start over with full bars again.
Seems very strange. I think the changes have helped, improved the remote, yet still a weird issue at hand.

Another example to go along with my update.
I went down to the theater and picked up the remote out of the cradel. It connected full bars. I set down and hit my power on macro The remote gave me a command failed and lost connection, it reconnected with only 1 bar. Again I had to reboot it to get it to connect, once it did full bars again.
I guess I will have to unplug the AP and see if it really is still connection to it. I don't see how, I get a real low signal with a laptop to it when checking the strength if the AP in the basement. How could it be finding the AP over the Router.

Im using a Linksys 54G and a 54g2 AP and have not seen any drop out problems, the onee connetion we have has now been on for 10 months with out a single drop out?
Mike , can you get your hands on a Linksys AP to try?

Mike , can you get your hands on a Linksys AP to try? That is what I came from. Both my Router and AP were Linksys. The AP still is and I replaced the Router with the Hawking. I had heard nothing but good things about them and he fact it was on the recommended list from Philips.

This is just a thourght, as you seem to be getting a week connection some times and get a "command fail" is it possible you could be getting a connection to a AP next door? If you are using DHCP try Fixing the IP address on all the Pronto devices..
