Hi All,

Anyone in the know heard any whispers on when version 2 of ProntoEdit Pro will appear and how different it will be or new features etc??

I have bought a few new components so am ready to completely rebuild my xcf but depending what the new version brings i might hold off. Can always dodgy up the current xcf for now to get me by.

My suggestion... Start migrating your IR codes into MyDatabase. :) But... KEEP A COPY of your PEP1 config as-is before you start this process.

Sounds like a bit of a wink wink nudge nudge there that it may be coming soon hey?

Good advice though. I always have latest XCF backed up just in case but didn't think to backup MyDatabase.

Cheers

Brett,

Suggest you read my post again. Wink was not on when but on what you will need to do to utilize the new version. If you plan on using PEPV2, you will need to move ALL your IR code data into MyDatabase.

Many of us don't use MyDatabase but rather use IR code buttons on hidden pages and use Links to map to the code buttons. This will not be possible in PEPV2.

Oh, that's how i use all my IR commands also. So that's not going to be possible in PEP2? Bugga. Why on earth would they take that away? Still, must be a reasonable reason for it. As far as i can tell in my limited experience with it the hidden pages are a great idea.

When you think about it, having your codes in hidden devices is a bit artificial. Using something that is properly designed for storing codes is what you really need - which is what My Datbase is.

Another reason is that My Database can be shared across multiple configurations and multiple model Prontos. For example, the 9200 also uses My Database. It is an effective way to keep all your codes in the one place.

I've not seen the latest but the inability to compare 2 pages side-by-side I think is going to be a detriment.

Strange comment. The current version runs properly with Vista. The new version also works on Vista.

Advice noted. What is the simplest way of migrating the codes from the hidden pages to myDatabase, or is there a simple way?

Sorry, I should have been clearer - my MyDatabase suffers from a strange corruption problem (other Vista users have also reported this). PEP itself runs fine.

Answered my own question....thanks. Right click on the device and select add to my database.

I assume this pertains to IR codes and not RS232 codes as well? So I can still access them via a hidden page?

RS232 will be in MyDatabase as well for next release. The concept of hidden code pages and links will not be supported in PEP2 IIRC.
