I have one MX3000 in a clients house that keeps locking up. I did the update that waas supposed to fix this problem. I have also changed out the MX3000 for a different MX3000 and it locked up again. Any ideas on what would be causing this to lock up.

When the unit locks up it will freeze on a screen and any of the buttons will not work. I then have to unplug the battery to reset the remote. Then the remote will work for about a week and do the same thing all over again. THanks in advance.

Normal problem that was never fixed in the first place. One of the devices on the remote is causing the problem. I had the same problem with only one device but tried to use learned commands. Using commands learned on my MX-800 and then using drag and drop with the universal browser I dragged the commands over to the MX-3000 and never had anymore problems. It would seem there are several bugs in the MX-3000 yet. It doesn't like the database or learned commands.

Yeah, i know about the lockup issues. Ever since the new software update was released I have not had any issues. Except for this one client. I talked him away from his pronto because it was not reliable. I also tried a new MX3000 and it still locked up.

Has anyone had problems with the MX3000 locking up aftter the update, Mr Ridinour? ljckbaily? SJhart?

THanks.

Not yet on the MX3000s, but I have only done a few since then and they are small theater programs. But as a curious note, I have a client that has contacted me in the last week about his Crestron MT1000 panels locking up. As you may or may not know, these are the same as the MX3k, but with Crestron software and programming. The tech at Crestron has not heard of this yet, but I just sent him a copy of the program along with a link to this thread. Maybe the gurus at Crestron can hack through it....

Is there anything special I have to do to get the software update on the MX3000. I have teh latest software on my PC. I was told by URC about a year ago that I had to upload the 12 device file into the remote to update the firmware. I have tried this, and then loaded the customers file back into the MX. I was then told whenever you upload to the MX, that the firmware will automatically update. Any ideas.

My remote has only locked up a few times since the update which corrected the issue. It used to lock up all the time. The only issue which continues to plague my unit is that when the unit "wakes up" it immediately goes off (doesn't stay on per the time which I have set). Requires a second "wake up" for the unit to work. If I try and execute a command during the first "wake up", it locks up sometimes. A real pain. I'm wondering whether this is an issue with my remote (being one of the first 2004 versions) and that most folks do not have this problem. Never have received a comment from URC on this. SJ

It doesn't matter what remote file you load. When you download any file to the remote the firmware will be updated. There is nothing special about the 12 device file.

I'm thinking they may have wanted you to load a different file and reload yours to take care of any possible residuals in the remote. I have seen programs act funny in a touchscreen/controller until you load a totally different file, then load yours again.
