My MX-900 was programmed by a professional installer. However, I wanted the software so that tweaks and additions could be performed by myself. I have familiarized myself with the software and made some small changes such as order of the items in the LCD, and moving items from the watch menu to the listen menu. Unfortunately, the hard button "previous channel" has never worked. I found the recall function that was programmed as an LCD item (DISH Sattelite DVR), and attempted to program the previous channel button for that function. When I have the remote connected to my laptop and use the test function, it works. However, on the remote itself, the button is dead. Doesn't beep or accomplish anything. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated!

Hopefully this isn't a demeaning question, but you did load the program onto the remote once you changed the code, correct? It will work when connected to the PC, but unless you load the program into the remote, it will retain the previous programming once disconnected.

No offense taken - yes, I did load it to the remote. Thanks for asking. Any more suggestions? :)

Delete the IR code from the button, and save the file, and then re-apply the code either by using the IR database or learning it directly from the component's remote control.

I would do a Save As... of the file as well before downloading to the remote.

Have you updated the software to the current version?

Thanks Gregorius, I will try that.

The software was just downloaded this week. The remote is only a few days old.

I will definitely use "save as" - I'm fanatical about that, as I realize I don't really know what I'm doing!! I always want to be able to go back to what worked.

Thanks for your response.

Have you tried to learn the button in? Just go to that device (I guess satellite DVR?) and click on the prev ch hard button, and then in the upper right click on learn and the send the button from the original satellite remote. Save the file and download to remote.
