I installed the new RFX250 to a MRF300 that has not been working very well with an MX3000. I could not find a location for the RFX250 where the RF light would not come on. Called tech support and they asked if the MRF300 was plugged into a Panamax Power conditioner. The recently found out there was some radio interference induced by the Panamax.
I plugged the MRF300 into another outlet, and found the RF light wouldn't go off again. Tech support suggested I take off the black antennea off the RFX250. The light went off, and found a location to place it. It works about 95% now, as apposed to 75% before.
Definately an improvement, however if I can't get this product to work 100% I am hesitating to install again. I already have 3 of these combos out there, and I am getting less the 100% reliability. How reliable are your Universal Remote systems? Anybody else know anything about the Panamax compatibility issue?
thanks,
Michael Politis

I haven't had any issues with Panamax. I typically use the mrf300 with stock antenna. I have found that the extra wire between the mrf and rfx can pick up interference. As can the long emitter wires. Unplug all the emitters and see if the interference is still there. I'd also try stretching out the cable to the antenna to see if that helps.

We're rolling virtually every job with either MAX4300EX, MAX5300EX or MAX1500UPS with MRF300's and haven't had a problem. Both with the PS plugged into the Panamax or the wall. Realiability of the 300 is a major improvement over the 250.

I have had this problem. I was told by tech support to never plug the mrf300 inot any surge protector. Once I started doing this "most" of my RF problems have disappeared. I did put one into a pureav pf30 the other day with no probelm. I think it really depends on the ac line. It must pick up interference, but you would think plugging it into hte line conditioner would help. Anyone else experiencing this.

Hopefully that's just a suggestion to help isolate the source of RF interference problems, otherwise the product is useless in most applications.

We also use a Panamax in almost every one of our jobs. I almost always plug the MRF into the Panamax and never have a problem. I would still say anyone that is having trouble should unplug it from the surge protector and plug directly into the outlet just to eliminate another variable.

In some installations, we have found that trying to plug the AC supply into a different outlet, or without a surge protector can help. However, in 99.9% of installations it doesn't make any difference to an RF situation.
If a tech support person suggested that we say to ALWAYS avoid surge suppressors is dead wrong. It is something to try after running out of places to put the RFX unit, not a standard procedure.
