Not sure about IP but I had an issue with IR input control on my personal ES projector. Basically, using a 3.5mm mono cable into the projector does not work but using a flasher does. I've been out of the game for a while and haven't researched why this is.
Did you try reversing the polarity of the IR wires going into the projector?
