Has anyone had any luck controlling the new model Sony ES projectors via IP with Harmony? My hub doesn't find it on the network.

Not familiar with harmony at all. Wouldn’t touch it with a 10ft pole. But did you turn on network standby? That generally “activates” IPcontrol

I did. I've had pretty good luck with Harmony Pro remotes. There pretty good one room solutions at the $500 price point. About to install their new hub which supports wired ethernet and standard IR emitters.

Harmony is not what it used to be. It works remarkably well. Still don’t love IP control with it though, especially if it’s android based Sony.

This is what I was looking for. I’ve only tried ip control on a Sony one other time. Had to switch back to ir.

For a relatively inexpensive price, it fits the bill well for one-room system IMO.

When I first got in this business (2004ish), started doing some Harmony, found out they sucked. I switched to URC (wasn't' happy), then went to a combination of RTI and Pro Control. A couple of years ago I had a bad run on RTI / Pro Control, and started despising them. Around the same time, I installed a Harmony Elite for a client (he bought it separately) and was moderately impressed.

Since then, most of my one room systems are Harmony Pro, no call-backs and customer are happy, works for me.

Looking forward to the new hub as well.

For years I refused to even mention the name Harmony.  I despised them, the way they programmed, the way they worked...

I've run into a few of the newer ones on jobs where I was asked to add stuff and was impressed with how far they have come and how well they worked.  I still have not sold one, but to be honest, they've shown more growth and willingness to change then all of the big players in this industry.  I would not worry whatsoever installing one nowadays if if the job called for a less expensive solution.

I'm in the same boat as many others and would never touch a Harmony remote for many years. I've been pretty impressed with their Pro line of remotes recently. What other manufacturer offers IP, IR, and Bluetooth control(not to mention Sonos, Hue, Alexa, Google, Smart Things, Lutron) with both Iphone/Ipad/Touch screen remote control for under $500? I only wish my URC/RTI/C4/Crestron could do that at that price point. I can even send a fairly green installer and he can have a system up and running with some very cool integration in under an hour. Sure, it's not suited for every job and lacks serious customization but for the most part it's a solid product IMO. I'm even more excited that the Harmony Pro 2400 is now out and is built specifically for the custom integrator.

Well said Malcolm.  They've actually shown that they are willing to work with this channel, and have had a rep on this site answering questions for us.  It's not my go to, but I am considering it for the small one room jobs that the budget is not there to bump up to C4/TC and the likes

A far more robust and scalable remote that allows remote access and a farrrrrr better user experience.

There is ZERO reason to use harmony at this pricepoint. Not to mention no hard buttons for numbers. This is a huge deal breaker for most which means the new C4/NEEO remote is doomed from the start.

Harmony Elite and hub is $350 retail.  For a budget one room job, it checks off everything a customer could want.  It's not right for a system that might be expandable, but it works remarkably well compared to the earlier stuff from years past

Brendon, we all know the NEEO is coming, at some point. Did you get any dirt on it at CEDIA? They seemed pretty tight lipped....

The harmony debate is getting pretty old around here.

A. This is not the harmony you remember from the early 2000's so just stop. The Harmony Elite/Pro are modern products with a robust device database. I did a sonos surround system with a couple of sources. It took me about 30 minutes to program. Name one product that you can do that with for under $500.

B. No its not Crestron or Control 4 or URC or RTI. You can't perfectly tame it. It's at least half the cost of some customizable products and like an 1/8th of other 1 room control system solutions.

Thats it. Period. If you are hanging and banging a TV with $5k or less of electronics this is (or should be) your go to budget option.

I agree. I love a hard button remote keypad. Everything you said is true but you forget to mention the fact that not any green installer can handle a C4 programming update. All that's needed for Harmony programming is an app. Most young green installers are already app saavy so programming a remote is a piece of cake.
And last I checked EA1/3 have no Bluetooth control capabilities.
