It has it's place like everything else. I just won a bid with a Harmony Pro today in fact. Yeah, the margin is pretty lame. Gotta make it up with labor charges. Lol

I have a handful of Harmony customers in my dealer dashboard. It's pretty slick. This customer wanted some level of Alexa integration AND a simple one room remote at a low cost. Harmony to the rescue. I had originally thought of C4. But I would have needed to use a Z2IO or retro an emitter to the TV. And Alexa requires a 4Sight subscription. So for about 1/3 the cost, he gets essentially the same experience.

But I still sell SONOS to, so what do I know? Haha.

How can you be not familiar with something but also not want to touch them with a 10' pole?

Seems some of you are scared you might actually like them. The PRO model is STUPID easy to program and it works really well for smaller systems. the actual remote aside- the automation and integration into lights, thermostats, alexa ect is powerful and Consistent. I can call the trainer and get almost immediate responses

if you demand that your remotes require 1-3 hours to program with special software then it will not be for you. If someone does not want a $500+ remote do you just shrug and tell to pound sand??

need hard # buttons??

At last year's CEDIA I attended a Harmony session that included a panel of dealers. They made an interesting point. While they were not in the sort of business that we generally want to run, they used Harmony in what we would call a "hang and bang", high volume setup/install. They wanted to be in and out in less than two hours. Harmony fit nicely into that context.

If you haven't evaluated Harmony for a while, don't trash them for what you remember about their capability from a decade ago.

One of the dealers from NYC makes demo videos for Harmony- I think they said they sell and program well over 500 remotes annually, mostly the Elite and Elite Pro. That alone would make a decent year.

The SR260 sucks and looks like it's from 1990.

C4 EA1 and SR260 is $650 Retail....

A far more robust and scalable remote that allows remote access and a farrrrrr better user experience.

There is ZERO reason to use harmony at this pricepoint. Not to mention no hard buttons for numbers. This is a huge deal breaker for most which means the new C4/NEEO remote is doomed from the start.

so you're "not familiar with it", but wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole? Not very opened minded are you...

Hard button keypad will be a thing off the past soon. The only thing you really use them for is cable or satellite. Voice remotes, DVR, and on demand will eliminate the need for them.

Anyone have any experience getting simple IP control to work with a Sony VPL-VW295ES? I'm using URC TC2.

Did an 885 recently with C4, no issues. Granted the 295 is a newer projector but it’s still an ES.

Going to the Favorites page and using them is faster than entering the numbers and the Harmony hubs work with Alexa, if someone wants to use it that way.

No Brendon is just very animated! LOL

We have used ProControl for the last few years with great luck. Very rarely had an issue with them compared to their big brother. But based on a conversation over on IP, we may look towards Harmony to fit the bill. I have heard nothing but good things as of late. We are possibly looking into C4 over our current solution but that won't happen overnight.

Has anyone had any luck controlling the new model Sony ES projectors via IP with Harmony? My hub doesn't find it on the network.

Not sure about IP but I had an issue with IR input control on my personal ES projector. Basically, using a 3.5mm mono cable into the projector does not work but using a flasher does. I've been out of the game for a while and haven't researched why this is.

Did you try reversing the polarity of the IR wires going into the projector?

No. I figured since the flasher works plugging into the same IR adapter, that the mono cable should be working. I'll test that though.
