CEDIA Expo 2011 Part 1: Sony Tablet S Wait a minute, it’s still September and we’ve already got a CEDIA video ready? No, you’re not dreaming!

For 2011 CEDIA returns to its home base of Indianapolis, Indiana, with a newly expanded convention center and gerbil tubes running everywhere. And no longer does the city roll up the sidewalks at 9PM – but that’s mostly because they’ve already been torn up for roadwork!

This year we’re continuing the style of our last batch of CEDIA reports and dedicating a separate video to each company. Today’s video features Otis Gates from Sony Electonics, who introduces viewers to the new Sony Tablet S running Android Honeycomb 3.1 and describes its unique design, applications and universal remote control capabilities.

As usual you’ll find HD 720p and “regular” encodes of the video, both in MPEG-4 AVC/AAC format. The highly recommended 720p version should play on the majority of modern PCs with the latest Adobe Flash player, but if you have any difficulties try the “regular” version.

I’m pleased to say that this year at CEDIA 2011 in Indianapolis we broke a personal record – we filmed interviews with 11 different control companies, and in the coming weeks you’ll get to hear from them all!

Finally, please note that due to framerate performance issues for Internet Explorer users with the previous Flash video player I’ve switched to a different player that – at least in my tests – does not suffer from the same problems. So, if you spot any issues with playback or the user interface, please let me know by sending me RC Mail or by using the CONTACT button in the upper-right corner of the page. Thanks!
