URC Unveils Total Control iPhone/iPad App

In addition to URC’s line of dedicated remotes and touchscreens, end-user operation of Total Control is now available through Apple’s popular portable devices.

Indianapolis – CEDIA EXPO 2011 – Booth 3240 – September 8-10, 2011 – URC, The Pioneer in Control Technology, has unveiled its long-awaited Total Control whole house control app for iPhones and iPads at CEDIA EXPO 2011.

The Total Control iPhone/iPad app provides full end-user control of a URC Total Control system. The experience is similar to that of URC’s TKP-2000 In-Wall Two-Way Network Touchscreen, including full cover art and metadata when used with the SNP-1 Streaming Network Player, which delivers Internet radio and subscription services like Rhapsody, Pandora and Sirius XM, and the PSX-2 Personal Server, one of the industry’s most advanced iPod/iPhone docking stations. The app also provides support for selected third-party modules.

“While we encourage the use of our dedicated controllers for our Total Control system, such as our TKP-2000 touchscreen and our TRC-1280 and TRC-780 remotes, the ability to add control with iPhones and iPods is something our dealers have long requested,” said Doug Cole, senior vice president and general manager of URC. “Now, end users can access their Total Control systems from the same devices so many of them already own and enjoy.”

The URC Total Control iPhone/iPad app will be available soon from iTunes as a free download that can be activated by custom installers for a price still to be determined.
