RC News Story
A new version of Remote Central's forum system is now available for your testing and perusal, with new features and an all-new look!

For the past while I've been busy revamping Remote Central's in-house forum system, to update its design and make it easier to integrate new features in the future. The first stage of that effort is now complete: almost every line of code has been rewritten to support an entirely new structure, there's a completely new look, and I've added in a whole slew of new features (no, I'm not going to publish a new feature list just yet - for now it's more fun to find them on your own!)

But what I need right now is your help! I need you to make test posts, edits, try searches and basically do what you would normally do when using the forums.

If you'd like to help out, here's a few notes:

  • As this is a major change from the current forum system's structure, you won't see the full list of forums. In fact, test posts can ONLY be made in the first forum. The other three sample "imported" forums are for test browsing, searches and so forth, and are currently several days out-of-date. They will not allow posting. However, as they represent over 400,000 posts please do try looking and searching through them.

  • If the new forum shows you as not logged in, but the old one indicates that you are, then you have an old login cookie. And you probably didn't know we had private messages either! Simply log out of your account and log back in to refresh your browser's cookie. You can do this in either the old or new forums, but for testing purposes it would be best to do it in the new one!

  • Aside from actual forum content, the other features are fully live. You can use your RC Mailbox the same as on either forum system, and it's safe to make changes to your account preferences. Note that test posts will not be reflected on your account statistics, so feel free to post as much as you like in the test forum!

Thanks for checking it out, and have fun!
