The Great Pronto Design Contest

Help us pick who wins!
Wednesday of this week is the final day for member voting in The Great Pronto Design Contest! So be sure to check out the amazing entries that our readers have sent in and vote for your two favorite designs – by doing so you’ll be helping us pick who wins the grand prize of a 50” plasma television plus second and third place Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 remote packages.

So which is the best overall XCF design? It’s up to YOU to decide!

First game for the Pronto Professional.
Galaxy 96 Today I’m very pleased to release the first game for the Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600: Galaxy 96, an update of my Galaxy game originally created for the TSU6000 back in 2001.

Based on a three by three grid, the goal in Galaxy 96 is to get from a single planet surrounded by a swarm of black holes to the reverse: one black hole surrounded by a ring of planets. Each time you click on a planet it, along with the adjacent spaces on the top, bottom, left and right swap their states. Planets change into black holes, and black holes into planets. If you destroy all of your planets you lose, so choose carefully!

Galaxy 96 encompasses over 3,300 buttons, 2,800 panels, 500 pages and 8 devices in a single XCF file. I’d like to thank forum member Lowpro for being the inspiration behind getting this version done – he had taken the time to convert the older Galaxy NG (created for the TSU7000) for use with the TSU9600, but in the end I decided that it would be better to recreate the game from scratch with the Professional’s higher resolution, landscape-oriented screen in mind. The end result looks and plays great on the TSU9600!

So, download and enjoy!

Update to my Philips ProntoPro NG file.
Finally, although it’s been a quite a while since the last release, I now have an update for my TSU7000 PCF design. Changes include the addition of six new devices (bringing the total covered by the file up to 39), updated channel surfing guides for Rogers analog cable (Markham, Ontario, Canada), Rogers VIP and HDTV digital cable (Toronto, Ontario) and OTA HDTV (Toronto, Ontario and Buffalo New York).

You’ll also find some new device icons (for items such as the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii), tweaked layouts for several devices, plus numerous other bug fixes.

Check it out!
