RC News Story
Monday: Well, here it is a new week. Most of the bugs seem to be worked out of the new server, so it's time to get down to some reviews. But for today, a few small updates. The Denon Aktis as reported on a few days ago is rumored to have a list price of $449 by itself -- but so far this is not substantiated. It will also be packaged with Denon's new top-of-the-line AVR-5800 receiver, which seems to have everything including the kitchen sink.

We're talking killer 170 watts into 7 THX Ultra certified channels, THX Surround EX, DTS Extended Surround Discrete, DTS ES Matrix 6.1, DTS Neo:6 Cinema & Music, DTS, Dolby Digital EX, Pro Logic, THX 4.0 & 5.1, 24-bit 192kHz DACs, 8 S-Video inputs, 3 Composite inputs, 9 digital inputs, 13 analog inputs including tuner, two 7.1 inputs, IEEE 1394 Firewire prepared DSP section, Multi-Zone capability and even more. Whew!

Hot on the heels of the AVR-5800 is the Marantz SR-14EX receiver, which will be where the Marantz RC5000i makes its first debut. What's changed? We'll have to wait and see, but it looks like a good part of battle for supreme receiver will be in the remote control department. Finally!

Pronto CCF files: A wide selection of complete system CCF files are now available. New or updated files have been uploaded by Aaron Cicali, Ahmad Abdul Hamid, Dale Crawford, Eric Elton, Greg Steele, Helmuth Ritzer, Ian Sharman, Joe Jensen, Jose Blanco, Leigh Rankin, Mango Chutney and Rich Williamson.

New component files are also available. Alan Lichtenstein uploaded a CCF for the ReplayTV 2004, David Hendrickson an Electrohome ECP4000 projector, Eric Elton a Sony SVR-2000 TiVo personal recorder, Ken Jude a Pioneer PDR-509 CD recorder and Arcam Alpha 10 tuner, Jose Blanco a Russound multi-zone switcher, and finally, a Sony CDP-CX70ES CD Jukebox creater from Bill Spencer.

UCommand: Crisp solutions has a new special for Remote Central visitors on their well-received LCD remote control. Visit this page for full details.

Teleport Pro: Just a quick warning for anyone using the utility entitled "Teleport Pro": I've been informed by the system administrator that the only reason a group of IPs will be banned is due to use of this program, which creates unreasonable and unbalanced loads on the server and also generates many bogus requests.
