Thanks in advance for any help pointing me in the right directions.

The usual question, I guess: I'm a newbie to remotes, and after hours of reading reviews, comparing prices, visiting high- and low-end RC sites, I am overwhelmed. And I consider myself tech-savvy...

I am looking for a recommendation for a universal RC. After all of the reading, I believe the important parameters are:

Price: <=$500 ($501 is also acceptable, but $1000 isn't)
Setup: 42" Samsung LCD, Bose V30, a cable box (local Israeli brand), Xstreamer. All IR based, I believe.
Nice to have: macros, cool factor.

That's it, I think. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your choices in do-it-yourself advanced $300-$500 remotes is getting very slim. Either a now-discontinued Pronto (likely TSU9300), or something from the URC family (bought from somewhere who will for sure give you the software).

I think some more on what you're looking for will help. Touchscreen? Hard buttons? Rechargeable? Do you want an RF basestation (so you don't have to point and can use it from other rooms)? And so forth...

Thanks Daniel.

From reading even more reviews, I feel like I need a very programmble remote (multi-device macros, variables for state), Rechargeable is not a must, LCD and touch is a very-nice-to-have feature, RF not required.

I am even willing to relax the price constraint...

My current thoughts are MX-700, ARRX18G, Or a H900/HOne.

Any thoughts or comments?

URC MX700 is history. Look at the MX880 and above if you need variables from URC.
