I have purchased several Switchlinc and PCS scene compatable dimmers and switches. The Switchlink two-way switch is supposed to have a "double click" feature where I can then send a signal to operate another code/switch. I want a garage switch to be able to turn on certain house lights with this double click feature. THERE IS NO MENTION OF THIS IN THE MANUAL! Can you explain how to program this switch to work this way?

Thanks

Bruce,

I could not figure it out, the manual talks about this on table page 4, where it explains what a two tap will do.

"Housecode & Unit Code (once)
Housecode & ON (two times)"

Unless they have writen software to interpret what to do with multiple house codes or the manual is incorrect this won't work. They certainly do a poor job of covering what to do with this feature. I have sent in an inquirey to the manufacturer, I will let you know what I hear back.

Got a reply, looks like a cool feature with the right hardware. I think I will have a talk with AppDig to see if they might be willing to support it. This is what SH had to say:

"I you are using a smart controller ie HouseLinc, Stargate and others that can receive PLC Commands, you can set up special scenes or command groups that will do different things.

For instance in Joe's house he is using a Stargate and when he walks into his Masterbedroom he has a 2 way dimmer 2380. when he turns it on it transmits it's address D1 ON this triggers a scene in other lamplincs and Dimmers in the room to set a lighting scene. If he double taps it, it sends D1 ON D1 ON Now the fun begins....

The smart controller has a scene that is programmed to listen to the powerline that says ....

IF it sees PLC d1 on d1on command THEN turn on the stereo in that room IR CODE #$% to AMP #1 and set it to Satellite input IR CODE XYZ tune it to the early 70's music station IR CODE $%^ turn on the speakers in that room PLC COMMAND H2 ON and turn on the disco ball D5 ON IF it is Saturday night between sundown and midnight."

Thanks for the info. I have another question, if I may... I installed a Switchlinc Dimmer in the same box as a PCS dimmer. They operate fine and even my X10 handheld controller (the one with separate on and off buttons)works. [I haven't yet played with my MX500 yet -- another project.] In a separate box across the room I installed a Keypadlinc 6 button (w dimmer).

Here's the quirky part. I set two of the buttons on the Keypadlinc for the two dimmers mentioned above (different unit codes). When I turn on those lights at the source or by the handheld remote, the lights indicate their status. However, the Lamplinc will only sporatically turn on or off the PCS controller. I have tried lowering the reception voltage to "3."

I have installed the CR230 coupler/repeater, and no electronic noise seems possible between these two circuits. Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of (with my limitied experience) would be the receive level. The factory default of "4" is 50 mV. Changing it to "3" brought it down to 25 mV. Taking it to "2" would be 10 mV, which I believe is the fixed receive level of the Switchlinc. A "2" should then put them on equal footing.

I think Deane is probably on the right track. The other possibility is the two-way function settings. If you have any of these set to two-way they could be sending out status request that would be preventing other commands from getting through, this would especially be the case if one was set for two way and the other was not. You should be able to see this activity on the PCS led though. The PCS led will blink red when it sees activity and green when it recognizes it is being talked too.

Hey Bruce,

Did you get this figured out? I think I have a similar problem.

Andy
