I can't seem to get a K4 to see IP cams that use a port other than 80. I am using four Panasonic cams with port numbers 8000 thru 8003. I have tried addresses in ID as "192.168.5.250:8000" and "[Link: 192.168.5.250]". Neither seem to work. If I change the cams back to port 80, it works fine. What am I missing?

Are you trying to view cams from a different location?  Don't you just need to give each cam a different IP address, not a different port?

The K4 is at the same location/network as the cams, but the cams were given different port numbers in order to be viewed from a different location as well (not from a K4). Once I gave the cams different port numbers, the local K4 cannot connect to the cams.

If the cams all have different IP addresses (which they must), then can't you just enter the IP address without the port assignment?

That only works if/when the port on the cam is left at 80. We had to change them in order to port forward from a remote location.

I wouldn't be shocked if you just found a bug in ID...

Can you view the Camera's from your PC on the Local network. I ran into a similar situation awhile ago.

Yes.... as a matter of fact, when I play back my project in ID emulator, it pulls up the camera images just fine by using "ipaddress:port#" in the command page. Load up that same project to the K4, and it does not work. It works if I change the cams back to port 80 and just enter in IP in the commands page.

I just recently did a video stream over ip to 4 k4s and 1 t4 with a axis video server and I found that the remotes were very sensitive to the size of the mjpeg window, it had to be the exact size that the ip device is putting out. I had the same experience with it working in ID emulator but not on the remotes.

On another note have you considered a DVR for the cameras that gives them access remotely and all you have to do is forward 1 port 80 to a single ip and they can access all of the cameras in a web interface or client software? Overall a cleaner solution and more secure for the network overall. just a thought.

Check out this thread.. 2nd post down by Springs. I pushed my Panasonic cameras to the 8081-8083 range which was not blocked by the ISP. They have been working for well over a year now.

I'll let you know tomorrow..

Thanks for the thread Nardo, but this is not an ISP issue. I can view all the cams just fine remotely (from a laptop) using the 8000-8003 ports that i configured them to. What I cannot do is view them from the K4 on the local network.

I know that it is not an ISP issue. It is an RTI software issue. The software adds the 80 by default in the command string that you can not see or change. Read the 2nd post by Springs carefully. If you are using port 8003, then you will need to add :03 at then end of the static IP address on your command sets. Last I checked you still can not change this. So, if you decide to use any port other than the prefix of 80 it will need to be changed. Just do a test of using 8081 on a camera.
I'll let you know tomorrow..
