I just got my T2, in part because I understood that it worked with the Sony DA90ESG. While I was excited to hear this, and then to get the T2 and learn all about what it could do, I've not been able to get it to work with the Sony. I used the cml file from the RTI website to assign the keys.

Other key assignments for other equipment works, so I don't think it's that. The infrared properties show the Frequency at 455.2 so it is apparently sending at the higher Sony frequency. My standard remote works... What am I missing??

I don't want to return the remote but, for now anyway, the Sony is the central component in my system.

Try getting a Pronto CCF that has the codes and transfer the hex codes to the T2 program from the Pronto program.

This is something I've been waiting to hear feedback on for a long time... so you're using the default CML file? At this point I'd suggest calling RTI.

I am using the default sample.cml file that came from the website. I'll give them a call. Not sure where I'd find the Pronto codes...

thx

sorry...I guess I can easily find the codes in the RemoteCentral Pronto download area...however, I've now got a CCF file but I'm not sure what to do with them. From DJ's response above it sounds like I should download the Pronto program from somewhere.

The Pronto CCF for the 90ESG won't help you. The Pronto cannot directly control that receiver -- the codes posted are for when you build or buy a special IR conversion cable. The RTI, on the other hand, is supposed to be able to directly control that receiver.

Dave,

Let me discuss this with RTI for you. Although they are great guys and very helpful the one thing they would rather not have, is a call from every T2 customer. If I in turn get this answer for you I can help out customers like you in the future.

Thanks

Dave,

I talked to Mitch at RTI and the problem is that Sony built a unique remote to work with the DA90ESG. The remote operates right at the top of the 460kHz frequency range of the T2.

RTI has had some success with this Sony but not consistently. They are working with another customer who has the same problem, and ask that you be
patient while they work this out.

If you want to return the remote I will understand that is not a problem either. Right now there is nothing on the market that I could recommend that could do a better job. I would give them a little time and see what they come up with.

I have had good luck doing a B&O system with an IRF-6.
That is 455kHz......
I works great with the IRF-6.

It works!!! I finally got codes from RTI through homeautomation.com and they found the magic combination. I assume it will be posted in the files section, replacing the ones that had been there previously that did NOT work.

thx Mitch and Bill

So the default ones that ship with the remote don't work? Could you upload the "corrected" file?

Done!

For anyone questioning whether buying an RTI is worth the extra money, just look at RTI's effort in this situation. This Sony product was only made for a short time, and was discontinued a couple of years ago. Rather than just telling this customer and me, to bad, RTI spent valuable engineering time working on this problem for several weeks until they got right. Economically this probably wasn’t their best choice, but dealer and customer support wise RTI is hard to beat.
