OK folks. Just when I was feeling pretty good about this remote (since I've switched to RF instead of IR), and my ability to program it, I ran into another snag. It won't learn my Pioneer Elite remote (I have a RPTV Pro-118 model, circa 1996). Then I read in the manual that it won't learn the Elite remote, use a regular Pioneer remote instead. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that has a Pioneer remote that I can borrow. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I might get around this (hopefully) last glitch?

Thanks......Joe.

Did you try the Pioneer codes the program includes in its default database? Two models are in there, including a Pro-99.

The Pronto files area also has some files for the Pro-119, and some "generic" discrete codes for Elite models. Worth a try.

You can download and install ProntoEdit, load the config files, open the properties for the buttons, and copy and paste the hex codes into the T2 hex editor.

Hmmmm.....Daniel, I don't recall seeing the Pro-99 model in the "Sample" library, but I'll check again.

Argen...I'll also try your advice.
Thanks guys, I'm almost there. Wish me luck.

There is something weird about the elite Remotes.
I have a customer that was having the same problem. I loaned him an el cheepo universal remote, set at Pioneer code 002, it worked his elite pro fine and solved his programming problem.

Most of the old Elite series used 1.125Mhz remotes which NO learning remote can or could reproduce.
That why they stopped using those remotes

Makes you wonder why they ever started using them! The T2 can learn up to a max of 460kHz, meaning those old Elite remotes are out of the running.

Daniel:

Is there a code that I can copy from somewhere, similar to what BillE mentioned that will operate my Elite TV from the T2? I've looked and searched but could find one. I even tried the Pronto Pro-119 (one year newer than my Pro-118), and that didn't work either.

There's two Pioneer TV code sets built-in to the T2's default database. Have you tried them?

On the similar topic, based on the "cut and paste" suggestion above, would I be correct in presuming that the RTI and Pronto/RC-5000 store remote signals in the same HEX format, thus enabling us to cut and paste between the 2 editors? I would just like someone to verify this for me.

As far as I know (and have tried), yes. Once I know how to do the hex code copy, it turned out to be a much more reliable and faster approach than learing the IR codes from the donor remotes myself. I am now downloading and copying hex codes for devices that I also have.

I downloaded the pronto edit software. Could someone tell me EXACTLY how to cut/paste from this software to the RTI software? I can find all of my devices in the various CCF files.... thanks!

Once you have downloaded the various CCF files into the Pronto Edit software, go into the Device menu. This is where it displays the various device types on the left side, and the actual device that you want to copy the command on the right side. At this time, you also want to go into your T2 and have the IR Library window opened. In your T2 window, first create your device in the IR Library (if you haven't already done so). Once you have your device created, go into Edit Text. Hit F12, which will display an empty Hex code window.

Now switch back to your Pronto Edit window, on the right side, click the command that you want to copy the hex code (if you don't see it, click again until the hex codes are displayed). Right click on you mouse, and copy the hex code you want. Switch back to your T2 window, and right click and paste into your T2 hex code window. Go down and name your function at the bottom, then Close (this will save your new function). Repeat the process until you have finished copying all the functions you want. Good luck. Once you get the hang of it, it's realy easy.

Don't understand, but remember I have NEVER used ProntoEdit. Do I open the various CCF files? If I do, then I can select a device and get a picture of the controls, but don't understand how to get the HEX code? Spoon feed me some more instructions..... thanks.

Yes. Select a device and get a picture of the controls on the right hand side window. Each device may have different pages of commands, so go to the page that you want to copy the commands (i.e., on the left side where it shows the CCF (+/-)). Once you see the page that you
want on the right side (e.g. Power On, Power Off, Play, etc.). Left click on that button (e.g., Power On), if it still doesn't show you the hex codes (it may show letters like C11), left click again. The hex codes for Power On should now be displayed. Once you see this hex codes, right click and select Copy. Then switch back to your T2 Edit Text window, where it shoud be displaying Enter Hex Codes (after you've previously pressed F12), right click and select Paste. Name your function at the same screen below (e.g. Power On), then close out to save the command. Repeat the process to copy other Pronto commands until you have what you need. Hope this makes sense. I don't have my computer with the Pronto Edit software in front of me, so I'm doing it from memory. Good Luck.
